Does anyone recall how cool dual fuel tanks use to be?

I like the dual tanks on my '93 Lightning and my old '92 F-150. Each year when we drive to the Ford Nationals in Carlisle (384 miles), I don't have to stop for gas. The dual tanks get me there, back and forth for the weekend, and a good bit of the way back.

As for the cost of filling up, it's just a difference in how much I spend at a time. I'm going to ultimately spend the same but each one of the fewer hits will be bigger vs. more hits for less at a time.

Replacement or add-on gas tanks for new vehicles in the U.S. are a completely different proposition than its diesel counterpart. Gas tanks are part of the emissions and evap systems which is closely regulated. A number of us went down this path searching for larger TRX gas tanks.

.
I never thought

I never thought about it that way but yes, I bet that would screw up emissions testing big time!
I best stick with a couple of 5 gal cans strapped down in the bed, If I'm going to expand capacity for cross country travel.

I remember borrowing an old long box F-150 from a work colleague, went to fill up before returning and wondered why the gas cap was missing, began filling and it was just pouring out underneath. I then noticed another filler cap closer to the cab....apparently the second tank had been damaged and removed....

I miss having two tanks. It was great for extended hunting trips not having to come into town for fuel.

I remember. 19 gallons in the front and 16 in the rear.
