Hey, I've read all these threads about folks with Battery issues, and I was leery about installing a dash cam with a parking mode feature until I was sure I could turn it off and that the unit had enough sense to regulate itself on low voltage issues. The Vantrue dashcam is on a constant on power supply in the passenger box.

I got my first 'Deep Sleep Warning' tonight and it happened to fall on a day in which I hadn't driven the truck at all. So, it got me to thinking maybe because I've had the truck for a month but only have 400 miles on it, has it never achieved a full charge in the first place? Heck, I haven't even had to pump gas in it yet.

Other folks who have had this issue multiple times, do you find it went away with longer drives? In my case tonight after getting the warning, I went for a 30 min drive, and while it started in a uniquely dark state, it started up just fine. But here I am, up at 2:38 am, stressing about it as I am two weeks away from attempting to drive it cross country on a 1700 mile drive, hoping I don't break down somewhere.

Is there a way to find out if I have the software update needed to stop the parasitic drain? Should I be disabling the hotspot and FordPass funcionality? I've taken to unplugging my dashcam from power source at night until we get this sorted out.

Maybe @fordvideoguy has some advice?

I have one with my Black Vue dash camera on my hybrid Maverick with no issues.

I've been through this whole saga. 40+ deep sleep notifications over several months. What I've learned is that the system is good at preserving enough battery to start the car (e.g. the interior lights don't turn on if the battery is low). Thankfully, the truck has always started. If you have Forscan, you can change the powerpoint timeout. Now my USB ports turn off after 60 seconds instead of 17 minutes (factory setting). Now my dashcams change to parking mode as they should. I also noticed Forscan that the system is only set to charge the battery to 80%. 🤔. Not sure if that's typical for vehicles or not.

the vantrue has a device like this already on it. It has three different settings. I think I choose the middle one.

From what I read about forscan it is a read only app? Or are you pairing that with something else to make those changes?

It might be a battery longevity thing. Instead of full charging you go to 80% to keep the cells lasting longer.

. Either way the stock battery is crap. In the Winter it kept playing sound over the internal dash speakers during startup since the battery was too low. If I leave my lights on for 5 minutes it does the same thing. So far in the Spring I only had this issue once on a colder day.

I have been looking for these Forscan settings for powerpoint and have not been able to find in my XLT
I thought it was 726-39-01 or in BdyCM Module, but not there

The Hybrid Battery is set to only charge to 80%, because of a longevity issue, but the 12 volt battery should be charging completely. Watch the CAR CARE NUT on youtube as he explains Toyota Hybrid's which are very similar to Fords

Deep sleep kills it at 12.6 volts. Dash camera i have cuts at 12.5v. Turning Hotspot wifi and restarting the factory setero after an updated helped. It drains alot slower now. Mine never charges the battery fully regardless of how long you drive always hovering at 12.6 colts only a battery charger plugged in charges it the auto startstop also won't work till its charged enough. Defrost window or ac on then no auto starts stop as well but I'm finding it drains due to the modem and wifi then simply turns off the in bed ac plug only works for 30 minutes when you have a full battery but it turns off the power to the back when the voltage is low as well. Mine won't charge properly which could be the alternator battery or charge controller. It was charging 12.5 at 0.05 amps. Then 13.96v after a while now it's 14.93v I'm getting a rotten egg smell having electrical problems right out of the gate. When I charge the battery up with a wall charger they fo away. It seems pike mud and ruts going up a hill at a higher around 400rpm gets the rotten egg smell. Which leads me to suspect that the voltage regulator on the alternator is bad as its out putting to much power and cooking the battery. It could be a bad cell on the battery as well so who knows been to the dealer 4 times for these issues already

Anyone know if replacing the 12v battery with a one of better quality would help solve the deep sleep problem?

You would need to view the datastream to see what voltage the computer is commanding for charge voltage. 15 volts+ actually isn't that uncommon for modern charging systems as they now want to replenish the energy used for starting quickly and then drop down to a minimum voltage to reduce parasitic engine load.

From what I can gather on Forscan, assuming your battery management system is calibrated and correct. Which can be a challenge in itself, even with a battery charger is hooked correctly on the negative remote post, the vehicle is not updating the State of Charge.

The Body Control Module is set at default the target battery State of Charge is 80%. Above this mark, the system charges under some Slow Recovery mode. Below, it charges at a conventional method. Though, the vehicle typically only gets +3-8A net of all the accessories and required current requirements.

You can change the target value using Forscan, but, a typical 15-30 min drive only recovers 3-4% of the SoC after the change. Before changing the target value, I think I only got 1% back from a 15km (9 mile) drive.

My current dashcam with parking mode can use up to 7-8% overnight. Enable time-lapse mode, you lose about 10% per 8-12 hours. The cold seems to make it worse.

I'm not 100% sure if the Maverick has a data PID which shows how much Amps or the duty cycle of the alternator, needs more investigation.

Lots of information here to process, but I have a question regarding your comment about the dashcam. Do you believe disabling the parking mode would make a significant difference?

The issue at least I have with deep sleep has been related to using a 12V tire inflator (20A). Apparently, you cannot directly clamp onto the battery terminals. The negative clamp has to be on a ground, on the remote post near the strut tower, or after the battery sensor.

Or having the dashcam hardwired, I have disabled parking though it seems my camera is not turning off completely. Might need to disconnect the constant power or investigate more.

Mind you, I have the Ecoboost, so the battery is slightly larger.

Hybrid owners have the additional problem with the 12V battery being smaller and there being a wiring harness issue that can cause deep sleep or no start issues.
