So the biggest question based on your read on the data is whether it smarter to ditch the hitch on a hybrid order or is it more just will a hybrid get scheduled?
I think the bigger constraint is the hybrid. BUT the hitch could play a role as to which hybrids. Once Ford gets down to the last of the allocations, that hitch may make all the difference.

If you have an EB, I would not change a thing.

Thank you for your thoughts. With the Hybrid it makes it tough. It’s annoying but the hitch was more of a just in case and a no brainer for $100 when it wouldn’t slow a build.

I finally decided to pull the trigger and remove the trailer hitch to my two orders. Now they're both down to XL Hybrid CP360 only. That's low as I'm willing to go. No more changes.....now just wait and stew.

I used to be a welder/welding inspector/metalworker, and am confused how the hitch could be a constraint. It's basically a few sections of square tubing and plate welded together then spray painted and bolted to the truck.

Unless there is some kind of steel supply shortage we don't know about it's something a basic metal shop should be able to churn out in quantity.

They also claim that splash guards are constrained so, honestly, who knows wtf is happening there.

I hear you. I would have loved the sprayin Bedliner and have that up too. Guess I will get the dealer to take off the hitch and hope a simple hybrid XLT with no add ons gets picked.

According to Tim this evening:

68% Hybrid orders compared to 35% capacity.
32% EB orders compared to 65% capacity.

Other than the hybrid, standalone tow hitch and splashguards seem to be the items over build capacity.

XLT Lux = 30% capacity but 25% orders.
Lariat Lux = 25% capacity but 20% orders.
Tremor = 8% capacity but 2% orders

Appearance packages are all under capacity constraints compared to orders:

BAP = 10% capacity but 8% orders.
TAP = 3% capacity but "hardly anyone ordered it"

CP360 = 60% capacity but 50% orders
CP360A = 25% capacity but 8% orders.
SIBL = 39% capacity but 17% orders (Tim says leave off)
HBL = 25% capacity but 5% orders.
Moonroof = 38% capacity but 13% orders.
Hitch = 45% capacity but 65% orders... includes any packages that includes hitch.

Keep in mind those hitches are likely also on a lot of the hybrids that mathematically cannot be built. So, I don't know if I would remove the hitch. The hybrid would likely be the larger constraint than the hitch.

Note: this has been updated as more information had been requested.

Another thing to think about that messes with the chance of being scheduled, is the expected percentages of each trim level build, off the top of my head wasn't it 15% XLs, 45% XLTs, 40% Lariats for 2023?

Yep. But I'm thinking the orders might be in line with Ford's expectations. Tim gave his breakdown last month and the percentages at his dealership were nearly spot on. Same with a poll done here.

Anecdotal, for sure, but given Ford didn't specifically call it out makes me think none of the trim levels were egregiously out of bounds.

Hitch fun fact:
What's sad is the standard hitch on the hybrid is just a receiver welded to the crash bar in the back under the bumper cover. Ford has 2 part numbers for the crash bar, one with a receiver and one without. That's why it's so cheap to add a hitch at the factory. Same part to basically bolt on.

Wow, only half of the 2023 hybrid orders are going to be built. The other half will get cancelled and rolled over to 2024.

Just give those with Hybrid reservations 50,000 FordPass points to switch. I would probably do it.
