If you look at my post, it is STEP BY STEP how to do it Not sure why its tough to do... I have done 3 mavericks total, with ZERO issues.,
I did read your post and also all 50 plus pages. So refresh my memory, please.. did you not connect to the purple/white dome light wire? I might be misremembering because it was so much info but I am not tapping that wire where interior lights may go out.

Okay, that makes me feel better. My truck was built in September, so hopefully no harness issues on mine since apparently it was remedied on the production line in May.

Do you know for sure it shuts down at 90 minutes?

I should add I specifically chose a Gentex/Kia mirror without homelink. I only wanted autodimming.
Glad to help. I don't know for sure if it shuts down at 90. Frankly, it's a rare occurrence to hang around that long. I do know, that my cabin lights go off after about a minute, so I would guess same for your mirror.

Eagle's directions inspired me to go ahead with the install, so you can trust him. Just take things one step at a time. Another option is find someone in your area that has done the install and arrange a meet up to help install.

OK, I was able to install the Kia Mirror and tap into the wiring harness for the Dome lights. I watched a video on YouTube, and in the video, I watch the person telling which wires to use... Complete success. Had to make a run to O'Riely's to get wire connectors.

There are three "clips" holding the black cover on.

The second photo shows there is a "tether" connector that holds the panel (I couldn't figure out how to undo it)

We also took the cover/panel for the Dome light (I have a sunroof) down and disconnected the wires. I tapped into the wires for the dome light. The video I found did the same thing on another Ford vehicle and the same wires were there...

The black wire is your ground, the Purple wire is your (switch power) Yellow/green (last write on your right) wire is your constant power.

I used about a foot of the wire that came with the mirror, it was over kill but when everything is tucked back in place there is plenty of space.

In this photo you can see the green light is on the mirror, so the mirror is getting power. VERY simple and easy... Truly I could do this in about 25 minutes from start to finish.

Completely put back together looks factory.

Took a picture once the Mirror was calibrated to show the compass. Now, I need to program the homelink.

Can't believe how inexpensive this was from Kia.....

This is what I used to connect with the wiring harness.....

@Dad
I hate "scotch locks" . That's what we used to call them awful things. I plan to use solder and shrink tube to do mine.

As I stated I have done 3 of these with no issues at all.
Personally I used the purple/white wire as per your method and found it causes the mirror to shut off along with other switch illumination on the same circuit when backlighting setting is turned down below a certain point. Original here.

This was my point, as well. I am not tapping the dome lights. I will tap the constant 12V. I've installed auto dimming mirrors before, just not on Mavericks.

My mirror arrived from Kia on Saturday. Not sure when I'll get around to it but when I do I'll run fuse taps via the A pillar.

Still debating if I want all-time access or switch access. Never really mattered before but this could be one less wire to run..

Thanks to all that provided the info on using this mirror!

Switched access. Theif could open your garage door if parked outside with all time access.

I may have missed it while digging through this thread, but is there a source available for the Kia mirrors still? If not, what's the best option left that has auto-dimming and ideally homelink?

Keep hunting different part numbers. I picked up an auto dimming one with compass, no homelink. I think I payed $35 shipped.

I'm happy for you
I was not trying to be a snob. Sorry if it came across that way. I have dealt with those before when trying to undo botched wiring on vehicles for people. I had a 72 dart 2 door V8 that some guy tapped into everything with these. It was awful to fix. I will likely tap into the truck at the wires you mentioned, only solder and shrink tube them. For others without soldering irons and such, the scotch locks probably would work just fine.

Since mine is just auto dimming w compass it's only got ignition switched hot, and ground. Easy enough, black wire, and purple wire. Got it. Thanks Eagle11
