Oh my! The photos are painful to look at. Such a beautiful truck and if you're like most people in this club, you put a lot of time and effort into making it special. Very happy to hear you are ok and the truck kept you safe. The good news is that your post will definitely answer anyone's question about the quality of construction on this vehicle. Good luck in your pursuance of another Maverick.
That’s one ofthe things I’m really bummed about. I just spent $1000 on paint protection and $200 on tint. I went today and removed basically everything but else I’ve added, including the speakers I just installed this past weekend. Gonna be hard to find another truck to reinstall it all on though. I wouldn’t settle for anything less than a white Lariat Hybrid, so that should be easy to find lol

I think OP was driving at 65 MPH then braked hard before the impact. I guess the speed at the moment of impact is much lower. Still, he is lucky not to be hurt worse.

Yes. Speed is often vastly overstated/over estimated in accident descriptions by victims.

Glad he’s okay. Insurance should pay no less than $45k for it, and I would try for more. Then I would take that profit and keep it, not pay it in markups trying to replace it.

But that’s just me.

I know the feeling as my new to me 2018 Chevy Colorado that I made "special" caught fire and exploded. But, that experience lead me to the Maverick. Hope you heal soon and I'm sure I speak for others here when I say I look forward to seeing a future post from you on your new Maverick.

Wow! At least you are ok! The truck can be replaced.
Now that's one more in the spare parts category....
Buy it from the insurance company and part it out if you can.

Agreed, it’s a rough time to be a body shop. They have to consider loaner cost more than ever. If they think they can save the car but the person will be in a loaner for 4 months at $50 per day, that can total the car with that added to the repair cost. Sad times in the repair business.
I've been reading this thread since it first started, and thought I would chime in....

As others have stated, I'm thankful you weren't seriously injured.

I'm curious to know what the insurance company will offer you for your loss. You may or may not wish to share with us on this board, and if not I totally respect that.

Your post reminds me of what happened to me about three years ago. Back in 2019, my mother in-law gave up driving and we moved her close to us to take care of her. She essentially gave us her 2016 Ford Fusion that had less than 10,000 miles on it, and we let our younger son drive it to school, etc.

Months later, he rear-ended a heavy duty pickup truck after school. The front end looked similar to your truck and the air bag deployed.

The insurance company gave us a check for over $17,000, which frankly was more than the car was worth. I have no doubt it ended up in a legal chop shop and they recouped their money on selling out the spare body panels, etc. I would imagine your truck will experience a similar fate.

Hope you continue to recover health-wise, and hope you get an equitable settlement from the insurance company.

Peace

Well on the way home today a lady lost control and Spun out in the middle lane then shot in front of me, hit the wall and I had no choice but to hit them at 65mph. Heavy traffic and a wall on one side meant slam on the brakes and brace for impact. So bummed that I’m losing all the work I’ve put into it in the last couple months. Not sure what to do next since I can’t even order a new one in til next year.

Poor one out for me boys 😕

it is a good day when you walk away. Did you have a onboard camera to record the incident. Do you have pictures of the other car involved and witnesses to what happened and a copy of the police report and did the person admit to what happened. Did the responding officer look at the data in the other car to see how fast he was driving when he lost control. I also hope you do not have the same insurance company because you may have more leverage with a different carrier. From previous experience don’t take first offer to settle. Do not settle the medical side until you have a full check up by your doctor with xrays etc. Good luck with the settlement.

My insurance is going to take care of me and then go after her insurance for it. Not sure what company she had, she was removed from her can and put in the ambulance and taken away before I was out of the other ambulance. I should hear from the adjuster tomorrow or Tuesday about next steps. And trust me, I will not be taking the first offer because “market value” is not what it used to be. And I have plenty of data to back me up on it.

not to be silly, but if it is totaled, I wonder ,with the insurance co. do you get current "book" value, which KBB is still about $10,000 over sticker? or the ins. co so called value ? which 99% is always too low!

Good question! I will be supplying a lot of data to back up my numbers so I will love to see what backs up there’s haha. I’ll have two letters from two different Ford used car managers with what they would retail the truck if it was in their lot. So that should help my cause. We will see!!
