So I have taken an XLT and a lariat for a test drive. I did actually mention the test drive with the lariat in my original post. I have tried asking them to swap seats into the maverick and they have told me that they can’t. They told me that with the electrical components and mine doesn’t have them that they couldn’t do it and they didn’t want to do it because of some stupid liability crap. They told me that if there was a crash that they could get sued and they didn’t want to do that. I have looked at seat covers in fact I’m sitting on some now that were more than I usually pay and they don’t help. I’ve looked into upholstery. I’ve looked into other car seats getting put in here.

All I keep getting met with this resistance. So my issues that I’m having is the horrible lack of back support/lumbar support and the fact that I can feel a plastic, the hard plastic through the bottom of the seat padding. And when they have the seams I can feel those two. Rather painful
I was going to ask if you tried the other Mav seats. It seems like you could find a wrecked one and take the seats out of it. "Official" places are always nervous about getting sued if there's an accident and people are hurt, so they'll never take something from one car and put it in another. I suspect the bolting and available electronic connectors are exactly the same. Don't have heated seats or the harness to run them? Just don't try to hook up the heat elements in the swapped seats. I can see an issue if they are power seats and there is no power seat connector in your XL, but I think all they need is power; the controls are mounted on the seat itself.

Sounds like the seat is to small for you. Get something with more width and support. The interior is narrow and small. After all, it is a mini 4 door SUV.
OK. I've got to say it. This truck isn't right for this guy. Sell it and move on. Seats be dammed.

I’m comfortable space wise inside. Never been close to an issue. I’m not spilling over the seats. The #1 issue is the hard plastic pushing through the foam and the #1A is the horrible lack of lumbar support.

And if it’s “too small for me,” why are there many others including those who are thin, or average hating the seats as well?

If you are heading down to the junk yard, might just as well look for Lincoln Corsair seats....same basic chassis so the seats should line up nicely....use the track assemblies off the Maverick seats, bolt them to the Corsair seat bottoms and put them in....I know it sounds simplistic (and I am not even sure it would work) but it is a suggestion...

Yeah I’ve looked around at different seats because my preference was to keep this truck. Or car truck whatever you wanna call it.

But one thing that really gets under my skin and I have to say this, is the people who come onto this forum or anywhere else and just make this blanket statement of if you don’t like the seats then you’re fat, and that you need to in better shape and then you’ll enjoy the seats. First of all and I’ve said this before these seats are not a one size fits all kind of seat. There have been people that have been extremely underweight, underweight, average, a little over average, or much bigger who have all expressed concerns in have not liked these seats yet for some reason whenever I come out with a comment I got a bunch of these people who think it’s their chance to make a comment about somebody’s weight. The sad thing is is they don’t know any of these people they’re making these comments about. Don’t know their lived experiences or any of that. But they do want to come out and pop off with the mouth it’s pretty fucked up

So for those of you who are very helpful on this thread I appreciate it. For those of you who wanna make some comment about somebody’s weight, you can fuck right off

No but my wife has sciatica. It struck suddenly. She has been to pain management, Chiropractor, Therapy, acupuncture , and massages. Nothing has helped , the doctors say that surgery "might" help. I'm just suggesting that before he takes a lost on vehicles he might want to check his phicial health.
Guided injection? That's what breaks my L5 free.

Just found this thread. Like the other folks here, if it hurts, it's wrong.
I know what you mean by the XL seats. I almost got a 24 XL hybrid based on the price. After driving it on an extended test drive, found I really hated the seats. Was sorta surprised. My Ram 1500 Tradesman is the moral equivalent of the XL and it has great seats. I went with the XLT to get better, heated seats. I loved the features on the lariat, but it was out of my price range. XLT was perfect compromise.

I know others have mentioned doing a trade. The dealer will swap your cap and bed mat, Or you can do that as well. My wife drives a 2025 Honda CRV Hybrid. That thing has a ton of room and really comfy seats. It was not much more than my Mav. The Suburu Forester hybrid was very comfy. I almost bought that instead, but wanted a truck to haul my dogs.

Instead of trading, you can sell your truck to a dealer through Kelly Blue Book. I did this with a Mazda 3, Got much better than trade in value and did not have to deal with John Q Public!

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Agreed. Always have the lowlife on forums. I think they are trying to be funny or something. In the old days before the net, these guys would get beat up a lot I expect.

Bronco Sport might fit, too.

once again ....six pages of suggestions....find a vehicle YOU feel comfortable sitting in , it's YOUR decision , not ours ......
It seems like he thinks if he keeps posting the same thing over and over he might finally get a different answer or the answer he wants to hear. There is no magic answer. He can try custom seats which tend to be very expensive or trade for a different vehicle which will likely also cost him a lot of money.
