Why wouldn't it be? Most folks I know who have ordered a Maverick (the Hybrid in particular) already own a full-size truck for pulling and carrying stuff (i have an F350 for that). I put in an order in Oct 2021 for a Maverick Hybrid to replace a 2007 Ford Focus that was on its last legs (that unfortunately died and was sent to the scrap-yard in June). When I placed the order, it was promissed I would have the Maverick "by April at the latest" :-/

Why a Maverick? Better gas mileage than the Focus, cheaper than just about anything else on the market, and easy to carry my bikes (road/mountain/BMX). I never got a VIN and not really expecting my MY23 to ever be filled. I am seriously looking at the Corolla Hybrid (50 MPG, decent interior, better reputation and resale value than Ford, etc.). Pretty sure if I put in an order today it would come in way before the Maverick I have been waiting a year for. As for carrying my bike, I just need to add a $100 hitch (same as I had on the Focus) and good to go. A Corolla will still go 98% of the same locations as a Maverick for most people. For the other 2%, I have a real truck (but it will cost me 3x in fuel cost). As for price, with the Maverick price increase and the Corolla price decrease, they are now almost exactly the same.

At least down here in rural Texas, the Maverick is far more of a car or compact SUV replacement than a truck replacement. Folks are seeing it as something they can drive to work, still fit in the overly-small parking spots down-town, and still be able to buy dog food, a few bags of fertilizer for the garden, etc. on the way home. To me (and a lot of folks I know), the Corolla and Maverick are pretty much interchangeable with pros and cons to each (more versitility for the Maverick but better MPG for the Corolla). The Corolla is better for runs to the grocery store while the Maverick is slightly better for a run to Tractor Supply Company (but will use my F350 for runs to Lowes of Home Depot).
If I had a spare F350 sitting around my property then yes, I agree a Corolla makes sense for commuting and running around stuff. Unfortunately I need a do all vehicle. Most Home Depot runs can be done with Maverick, my small boat will fit in the back, can tow 4K pound trailer and a almost 1500# payload. Corolla can do none of those things except save a few bucks in gas and will cost near 30k

Some of you like to pretend you need a truck because you went to Home Depot twice this year. U-Haul has about 16 locations in my small town where they'll rent you a truck for $19.95 a day. I am buying the Maverick because I like it, but the Corolla Hybrid could easily take its place.

Curious if any unlucky Maverick orderers/owners are going to get a 2023 Corolla Hybrid instead? They are officially live on Toyota's website but the build feature still doesn't work. Looks like they will have a lithium battery with a lower center of gravity this year, no more NiMH as Toyota has put in their hybrids for the last 20+ years. Nicer headlights and a 8 inch high resolution infotainment screen with WIRELESS apple carplay and android auto.

I think it's a pretty good deal at $22,800. They are even cheaper than prior year Hybrid models and toyota's destination + delivery charge is only $1000 compared to ford's $1500 and much better warranty/reliability.

Of course, this only goes for people who just care about MPG only and a vehicle under $25k and don't need a truck. Has anyone put a deposit on one yet?
Nope, not me. A hatchback, sedan, nor SUV will work for me. I need a truck to do truck things. I have an e-bike I haul in mine, make and deliver raised bed garden boxes, plus haul other things.

My original order on 15 Oct 21 of a hybrid XLT w/Lux and CP has been moved to 12/19, which means the death of mine. I foresaw that coming early on this year when I was notified by my dealer of constraints on the packages I ordered and the chip problem. I found a hybrid XL on 27 January and bought it, then traded it in on 31 March for a hybrid XLT w/lux, but no CP.

I did place an order for a ‘23 Lariat w/CP, Lux, and the BAP. I was notified by the sales manager that I have a 0% chance of it getting built with the constraints and low dealer allocations.

So, at this time, I’m actively seeking to find a hybrid Lariat w/CP and the lux pkg. I need the CP as I’m having lumbar spine surgery soon followed by cervical spine surgery for the second time following that.

Hopefully you'll still be able to check over your shoulder. BLIS is good, but it's not meant to replace manual checking.

I wish the US would produce cars like the Corolla. I've owned them for 15 years, NEVER any issues. Yes, I'm considering a Corolla Hybrid or Rav4 if Ford poops the bed on my gas Lariat LUX. We'll see, ha ha!

Domestic brands don't seem capable of making small cars that are worthwhile. I also owned a 2015 Corolla S - at 165,000 miles when sold, hadn't even needed a brake job. 2 batteries, 3 sets of tires, and 16 oil changes. Every single thing worked just as well at 165k as it did at 16k. Not an inspiring car, but a great one.

+1. While a pickup has some utility in our lives (we're often transporting 4 bikes, go camping a lot, etc.), we were not even considering a pickup when the Maverick was announced. We managed for 5yrs with a single car, a VW jetta, and never once did it stop us from doing anything. We've done dozens of family camping trips, transported our bikes, gone snowshoeing in the backwoods of the Wasatch mountains, and done tons of Home Deport trips with that car. Love our Maverick, but had the corolla hybrid been a cheaper option when we ordered (June '21), there might by a corolla sitting in our garage right now. I'm a really frugal and financially rational person, the wife may have convinced me to pay maybe $1k more for the novelty of a truck over something like the corolla hybrid - but the cost difference was a little more than that.

On the down side, my in-laws - who live nearly an hour away - have asked us countless times if we could help them with random things (we basically moved them ourselves, picking up flooring from HD, transporting their lawn mower) because we have a truck now...even though they have an SUV that has more cargo space and can tow way more, and my SIL (with an even bigger SUV) literally lives on the same freaking street.

I look at it more as an SUV with an open bed also. Handy little grocery getter that can pull a small boat when the grandkids want to to along on a fishing trip. I went with the AWD and tow just so i wasn't that guy smoking my tires on a slippery boat ramp. With the price of diesel my pickup will only be used as needed for the heavy lifting.

This wasnt on my radar as I thought I'd be driving a Maverick by April 2022 haha :( I spotted a Kia Nero and the design looked pretty slick, not sure about Kia though as far as quality. Specs are fantastic for the price though may go check them out at lunch today.

I think I will, I have 2 Maverick orders, an EcoBoost and a hybrid, I might just keep the EcoBoost and order a Corolla Hybrid.

We were in need of a third vehicle and the Maverick was intended to fill that spot, but now that it will be a while it's going to be purchased by my son for himself. To fill the gap we purchased a Mazda CX-30 base. I have never owned or even considered a Mazda, but it is a really nice little "micro suv" and came pretty nicely equipped with AWD, a surprisingly upscale interior, and a very solid drivetrain. The 2.5 4cyl has no cylinder deactivation or auto start/stop, and a it has a real 6speed auto ( no CVT/etc ). MSRP was 22.5K to boot. I am really liking it and we may consider one of the larger CX-5/50 versions to replace our van some day. Since Mazda split away from Ford they have been sneaking up quitetly making some really nice cars.

I called a couple dealers and they all say there's a 6-9 month wait for Hybrid Corollas. But then again, cancellation rates are usually as high as %60 so it could be much sooner. I unfortunately live in Los Angeles, most expensive gas in North + South America so demand is through the roof still.

Will probably make an order through two different dealerships, one I know of that for sure doesn't charge markups, and one that does but might be negotiable to no markup considering the economy's direction.

Also, the non Hybrid LE models are a good choice too if you can't wait. The 2023 models now come with the 2.0L SE engine standard with more HP and more MPG. 41mpg highway too. Only 9mpg less than the Hybrid and no touchy hybrid regen brakes, and cheaper maintenance.

Just went on a 600 mile hunting trip , 600lbs ATV on a 900lb trailer plus extra gas , water , 3 coolers food and lots of beer plus all my gear soo?? home depot you say? And 2hours of old logging trails! Give your head a shake. And i was the proud owner of a brand new car 1987 honda civic GL best car ive ever owned. But please dont compare a corolla to a Mav 2 different planets. I also pull a 3000bls boat every other weekend. I have 30,000 km in one year Nov 1st 2022 and zero issues so far.

Did I say "all of you" or did I say "some of you"? Take a look again at the post you quoted. If you'd bothered to read even that first line, you'd have seen that I said "some" and clearly you are not in that category.
