No way Ford is just deleting confirmed orders. Not saying they wouldn't take too many. Not saying they wouldn't cancel overruns. But they wouldn't just purge them like some cloak and dagger operation.

Dealer screwed up a batch of orders and they never got entered correctly.

I actually went into this process thinking this might be the time that I wouldn't lose even more faith in dealerships. I figured this was going to essentially be a no-negotiation transaction which would remove all of the conflict that normally occurs when I have to haggle, start to walk out, wait for them to call me back, numerous trips to talk to managers, people getting upset at me, etc.

I get there are some good ones out there but holy hell most are a disappointing mix of slimy and incompetent. I don't know where I'm going with this but I feel a little better now :D

it depends more on what is ordered. What packages and options. They could build more XL EB FWD than anything. If they all wanted a hitch receiver, then they may only be able to complete X number.
It's not hard to place limits on the number of hitches you can sell, for example. With computers it's trivial. Ford is clearly not prepared, on many levels, to move to an entirely custom order model.

It's a shame because my mav is the only vehicle I've ever owned that is EXACTLY what I wanted and hence my satisfaction with it is far higher than it would be otherwise.

Sales is an industry where dishonesty is often rewarded in the short term. Add in that most folks aren't buying multiple cars a year, so they don't need to build loyalty the way other sales businesses do.

Car dealerships are run by people, and while there are still plenty of good ones, the business attracts and rewards shitty ones too. Like imagine all the worst folks you went to high school with. They all had to get jobs SOMEWHERE 😆

The hard part is knowing how many of “X” part you are going to be able to source, manufacture in house, or how many a third party will be able to make over a certain time period.

I guess ford could do extremely short order windows that only take a couple of thousand orders until the next months projected supply allocations are used up vs projecting a full year’s production.
That would also allow them to change the price throughout the year in keeping with material cost increases, inflation, and changes in interest rates.

They are giving you the runaround. When the order is placed in the system they MUST place an email (normally the customers) I'm betting they did not do this OR your order was never placed. Tell them to take a screen shot of the order in the system and lets here the excuses.
NO.
No email address is required to place the order in WBDO.
An email address is required to complete COVP.

I have been trying to get confirmation of my Maverick order since 9/19/22 and today I escalated my concerns to a GM of my dealership and got an email from the sales manager who is trying to get to the bottom of the issue. Part of the email read:

"The other thing that could be happening is a purge of orders. Ford has admitted that they couldn't close the order banks fast enough so all orders taken Sunday and Monday were not going to get filled. They haven't made anything official yet But it is possible that they have already started purging deals from those two days."

Holy Shit! Has anyone else heard anything about this fiasco?
Ford very well may have taken more Maverick orders than they can build for 23MY. But they aren't going to purge orders. Some of the later orders may be more buildable than the earlier orders. They may be able to get in more parts and produce more than they initially expect.

We know that there are many 22 orders being transitioned to 23. These orders weren't purged when Ford knew they all wouldn't be built in 22.

It is entirely possible Ford was planning on building X Mavericks and had the software set to stop taking orders at that point, X. Then, after they closed the order bank, something happened which would limit the number of Mavericks they could make to some kind of formula like { X- Sunday and Monday orders}.
At that point, it would make sense that Ford has 4 choices:
1. Cancel all the Sunday and Monday orders now to prevent worse customer backlash later.
2. Wait it out and maybe extend the production year or expand production capability and feel the wrath if they can't make them.
3. Hope that there are enough cancellations that things will work out.
4. Use dealer allocations to fill pre-orders.

Whatever. I haven't gotten a confirmation email so I'm a little bitter.
Think of the panic if Ford had a count down screen of remaining unordered hybrid/EB mavericks online with three bullets green, yellow, red (ordering closed). 🤗

And Ford has to take care of Brazil. That's where your truck went.

I mean you couldn’t even order the tremor until Monday ..
I ordered Tremor Tuesday 8:28 am = no problem. EB had their separate allocations and order closing and I suspect that Tremors had their IWN allocations and order open and closing.dates and times. Also concerning the dealers taking preorders who is to say they did not have a spread sheet they were entered into with a scripting program set up to enter them one at a time when orders were opened. They could then be entered as fast as the Ford ordering program responded to each and every "enter key pressing". Could also be programmed to reconnect automatically if connection to server was dropped. Several dozen preordered mavericks could be entered in very few minutes.

This. I'm old, been buying vehicles before a lot of you could drive, and Ive never left a dealership without feeling unclean. I've never once had a smooth experience, without some level of pressure, game-playing, 100 attempts to add to the total, and more. My last new car I bought "completely online," to try to avoid that nonsense, and STILL had to put up with some of the above when I showed up to get it. Good lord, why does it have to be this way, particularly in this day and age, when the business model of order it online, see exactly what you're getting and paying for, click Buy and be done is already so deeply established! Ranting, I know. Still. Keeping my fingers crossed that my Mav experience will be different, I really hope so, especially since it's likely the last I'll ever buy.

So why would Sunday and Mondays orders be purged before Tuesday and Wednesdays order. This doesn’t make much sense and is clearly dealer bs…
