After waiting 11 months and nothing but broken promises on my production date I am becoming disillusioned with my Maverick order.

A lot has happened over the year I have been waiting. Gas is no longer $5 a gallon. I upgraded my bike to a Harley that won't fit in the bed. Worst is reading posts on this forum about premature rust due to lack of undercoating on the undercarrige and minor accidents causing insurance totals due to Unicode damage.

I have a VIN now so as soon as my Maverick hits the dealer (can't imaging when that is) I will call Carvana and get a sell quote. If they can still get me a $5K profit I will flip it and buy something else next year. For those haters don't blame me. Ford brought this on themselves with broken promises on a unrealistic delivery schedule. When I ordered in October '21 nobody was talking a year waitlist.

I felt the same way for most of the past year. Just had to settle for a long wait. But you got a Harley and would like a truck big enough to haul it in the back. Being able to buy a Harley and a truck should at least make you happy you’re in a good place financially. I personally can’t afford all that, hence the budget truck.

To be fair Ford didn't think it would be a year wait.

I'm in a similar boat -- my MY22 is scheduled to be built 10/31 right now -- but I'm not stressing. I live in Wisconsin and have spent the last decade driving a car that didn't have undercoating. And yeah, I did have to get my exhaust repaired a year ago, but otherwise.... as long as I wash the salt off my car after the winter, it's mostly fine?

Gas prices are under $5 a gallon, but they weren't that high when you ordered the truck either.

In the end, it's just going to be a truck. A nice little truck, but it's not going to be a revelation. Am I excited to get mine? Yes. I'm getting a bunch of features my current car doesn't have.

But it's still just going to be a truck.

Ford underestimated the popularity of the Maverick and could not produce enough. If that makes you want to turn loose of yours I think you should. We will not know for years if the rust is an issue or not- every car and truck has some surface rust. Any car or truck you find on a lot right now is very unpopular so why would you want that?

If it doesn't make you happy then I think calling Carvana is the best approach. Call Carmigo too for a competing quote. Our vehicles need to suit the purpose we have in mind for them and when they don't, they don't perform their function. I wish you luck in making your future decisions and finding something that fits your needs!

Gas is still over $5/gallon and diesel is $6/gallon where I live. I'll take your Maverick.

Not sure where you live but it just hit $5.79 here. And that was before Ian.

I don't think anybody is going to hate on you, things change.

Not sure I agree about blaming Ford though, I don't think they ever promised any particular date. Maybe your dealer did. But good luck with whatever you end up with.

I have a 7' piece of Aluminum 2x6 channel that will make my bike and your Harley fit in the bed. Yeah, the delivery and the wait is an issue but I now have a build date and I'm stoked to get my Maverick. It's getting undercoating and a ceramic coating first thing.
I had a Toyota truck that rusted incredibly to where I junked it at 130k miles so there's that.

Carvana offers have bottomed. Truth be told you sound have a bit of vehicular hypochondria. Spend enough time reading and you will find something to get worried about, even though this forum is a small subset of owners.

If you are trying to convince yourself you don't want it, probably not the best place to get affirmation.

Good luck.

Dumpster fire! 2021 The year buying a vehicle becomes a sport!
Yeah… but I’m getting tired of this game. And the hours wasted trying to figure out what is going on. I’ll bet many here are just as tired.

it's averaging $3.50 here, where are you that it is 5.79? Bought our prius in 2015 when gas was $2, best time to buy a hybrid when gas prices are low.... you have to be contrarian to get the deals.

Everything is not as it seems. Last year I turned 60 and was diagnosed with a serious but treatable form of cancer (think Michael Douglas). I cashed in everything that I didn't need/want and placed the Maverick order while still in treatment. My thought was something new and reliable to get me through retirement. I've always wanted a Harley so I sold my two Hondas and bought a 2015 Sportster seventy-two. That brings me joy; waiting forever for the Maverick does not.
