Ford Maverick My Dealer is playing games with my MY22 to MY23 Private Offer DSC06677_resized

Original post:

Hello all. After 502 days since my initial 2022 order, my MY22>23 roll over order finally arrived at dealer. Went to pick it up today but they were playing games with my Private Offer insisting it "isn't showing up on their system."

I have watched @fordvideoguy video on Private Offers and Price Protection, so I stayed firm, polite, and offered to assist in "finding" it in their Smart Vincent system but they refused. A management came over and kept insisting that mayyyybe it will take a few days for it to show up and that I should just go ahead and complete the transition today and take delivery today with the current listed price, and they will send me a check for the private offer refund IF and after they received it, I of course, politely refused.

I asked if they could contact their Ford rep, but he also said the only way they get help from Ford is they will send out an email Monday morning, so I told him I will come back again Monday. I then asked him to put it down in writing that they will hold my Maverick until the date we previously agreed on, he came back later and also refused that simple request.

Wasted 2 hours of my time at the dealer, my sales person has always been very friendly but felt like the management has been giving me a run around on everything said to me, including having them giving me an estimate on my current car trade-in.

While looking if anyone has had similar situation I found @fordvideoguy's post on How to get your private offer certificate number and used it to figure out my certificate number, text it to my salesman hours ago but still have not heard back so just wondering if anyone could help me on how to proceed.

Thanks in advance.

You could try contacting Mike Levine on Twitter. He is the Ford product communications director. He hates when dealerships pull this kind of crap and has been known to step in for customers that come to him with these kinds of issues.

Tell him the story you have told here and be as detailed and thorough as possible. I would contact him as soon as you can and stress the urgency.

are they selling to you at MSRP? If so, just take the truck and let them take care of the private offer later if it was sent into Ford. You won't win in this case. I hope you will but chances are the dealer wants to keep your truck so don't let them.

Sounds like your at high risk of them selling it to someone else. I seem to recall several post about that happening

Hate to say it but you just signaled to the dealer you will walk away over the POSSIBILITY you might not get the private offer. They have you right where they want you. Make your decision right now: do you want your truck or not? If yes, suck it up and get down there immediately or it's gone. Otherwise you'll be left with a moral victory of not letting them treat you worse than you expected and no truck. Clock is ticking....

My experience was the same on my '22 with the price protection and and the financing incentives at the time I placed my order (0%). After the general manager watched the Salina Kansas gentleman's video, they looked at me like they were from Mars and didn't understand a damn thing said. It was obvious it was going nowhere, so I purchased the damn thing and financed at 3.99 % , then when Ford sent the email asking me to review the dealership and the process I skewered them. Remember, the truth is your best defense. A few weeks later I received a call from a manager at the umbrella company managing their dealers in a 4 state area. Long story short, they eventually sent me a check for the price difference but said can't help with the financing. I let them know I would not change or re-review my original review, and that we would not be doing business in the future. Fuck dealers like this. Never again. Dealers are about making cash, not cultivating long-term business relationships.

Simply do the math. Take the chance of losing the $2,750 or pay $5-$10K over MSRP if you can find one on a dealer lot. Once you sign the papers, then let the dealer know that you will bombard Social Media, local news, and give them a one star rating on the Ford survey. They all seem to be interested in that blasted survey.

That's exactly what I was left with when ordering the Maverick. Disgusted by two dealers unwillingness to put price guarantees in writing and their insistence on all of the required dealer addons. By the time I moved to a 3rd dealer who was treating me right... we ran out of time getting the order in as there were a few ahead of me and the systems went into slow mode.... I didn't get my order placed before the order banks closed. So, I had my moral victory, but that cost me time and I didn't get tp order a maverick. Now I am scouring dealer inventories for the last 7 months now trying to find one. Hate this whole process.

You have done everything you could. We have found that some of those certificates are disappearing and it takes a couple days for them to get back with us with the new certificate number. We have had to put off paperwork for 2-3 days before they get back to us so we can complete paperwork and receive the private offer. They need to contact their Sales and Inventory Specialist.

Yeah, what he said!

You should be able to find out the status of your private offer certificate (and get the certificate number) once you have your ViN number. Ford Marketing/Customer Service can tell you, if you provide your name, address, and dealer order number.

We didn’t check with the dealer on this until our truck was showing as shipped, but should have checked earlier.

Took a month for our truck to get to the dealer, and we were still waiting for the private offer issue to be resolved when the truck got to the lot, because our name had been spelled differently in the MY23 order from the MY22 order.

Fortunately our sales manager was enthusiastic about solving the problem … but he didn’t really understand what the process was, so took him a few days, which delayed us taking the truck home. (He offered to have the check sent to us after the fact, but we preferred to wait.)
