The dealer I'm working with never marks up. My MY23 Maverick is being sold to me below MSRP. That's why they have that limitation on who they sell it to. Because there is instant equity in the vehicles and you aren't making money on their good graces.

I believe in ethical capitalism. Price gouging is generally illegal but is legal if you call it scalping. Same principle on both: a seller of goods taking advantage of a shortage to artificially drive up the price to line their own pockets rather than letting the free market decide the price. Especially since the act of scalping is what is causing shortages and driving up prices to begin with.

I have zero interest in reasons or excuses and hope all scalpers lose their shirts on their respective endeavors. Want to flip new cars? Open a car lot and follow the same laws dealers have to contend with.
I am starting to think flipping a 23 may backfire. At the very least, I wonder if flipping may net a thousand or two, not $4-5k. If there have been lots of back-up orders placed, plus some dealer stock as Ford indicated may be possible, plus some intentionally buying more than one to flip, plus some who buy an EcoBoost while waiting for their Hybrid only to trade in the EB when their Hybrid arrives, etc. Not that the market will be flooded, especially for Hybrids. Just thinking selling what amounts to a used truck for more than a new truck is riskier for the 23 Maverick than it was for the 22 and certainly won't last forever (thinking this may be the last year it's possible for Mavericks). Not that it matters either way to me, as I'm not trying to flip one.

I'm just trying to replace my gas guzzling Ranger.
Ditto! My 2011 4.0L Ranger only has 72k on it, but at 19mpg highway I just want something close to the same size with about 30 mpg that I can still use to haul a trailer on occasion. The Mav seems to tick all my boxes (except for the silly drive selector).

My dealer was able to place a rollover order on Sunday 9/25 somehow. Got a confirmation email from Ford after.

Ford Maverick ⛔️ Official bulletin: 2023 Maverick order banks closing on 9/20 (Hybrid) and 9/21 (EcoBoost) Preview Order

I'm also think the "Flipping" market will slow significantly in 2023 and good thing if it does!
Car loans are now(today) @ 4.99% at my credit union and my guess is that's about double what it was a year ago.
In addition (I hope) that the Mavericks(which are still open for dealer stock orders) may cause dealers to sell their stock orders off the lot at more reasonable prices.
And there's more!
Dealers who sell their Mavericks quicker than other dealers will get bonus allocations by a new formula Ford is said to be using in 2023.
So there is reason to hope, at least.

I was able to get in a Galpin Order, but it was a nightmare, being the biggest dealer in Cali, they were really behind the 8-Ball. I placed my order 2 months ago for the August ordering date, before Ford had announced that they were pushing orders back to Sept. I was able to get a confirmation email on Sunday. Yes, they told me that they had 500 orders...
I still haven't gotten my order confirmation other than the original email from Ford. I called Galpin today, and the salesman said that they have months to put that in.

Is Galpin really that out of touch, or are they so big that they really don't worry and Ford lets them do whatever?

I just saw 592 used Mavericks on Autotrader alone and all are way overpriced from original msrp. It might explain why everyone who actually wants the truck has such a wait.

I just did a search and there are just shy of 2000 of them listed right now. Crazy. Not a single one is priced near MSRP

If the dealer cannot provide you a Sales Code and Order Code, you maybe out of luck at this time. Once you have those 2 numbers call customer care.

I got those two numbers. So call and make sure the ROVP is submitted?

Yes, I would call 1-800-334-4375 to be sure it is in order processing. That means it is waiting on a VIN then a scheduled production date.

It is.

And they changed me from XL to XLT as requested. I guess Galpin knows what they are doing.

That silly Drive Selector is found on more and more vehicles. While you may not like it, you had better get used to it because it's not going away, rather it is becoming the Norm. Saves Space. If it was actually a deal breaker for customers, then car makers would have left it as a space gobbling Stick, but it isn't a deal breaker, probably even for you. You will adapt and adjust just as everyone else does.

My dealer will actually refuse to sell it to you if they find out you are flipping. Believe it or not, a lot of flippers are easy to read. You can tell the difference between those who genuinely want a truck over those looking for a quick buck.
Does every dealer have Carnack on staff? Lie Detector equipment? Utter nonsense. One can easily order two or more vehicles from two or more dealers without invoking any suspicion that one planning on selling one or more. Furthermore, purchasers (aka owners after the purchase) can do anything they wish with their property. They do not need any consent or permission from the dealer.

It is still silly. People like what they like, whether it is a color, body style, or type of drive selector. Nothing wrong with having different preferences.
