Makes you wonder how long ford can bleed money from such low production and thus sales.

What's your estimate then on how many orders were made then? You think it's near 100k or less? I don't. I'm thinking at least 130k
Yep, somewhere around that 100k mark is my guess. Doesn't really matter, as there's no way we'll ever know. Even though we should eventually know definitively how many got produced over the full MY22 cycle, Ford will never publish a figure on how many orders they had to roll over/convert to MY23s.

I expect some of the tail end of the MY22 production cycle will be dealer stock orders, as I expect the parts constraints (not actual production throughput/capacity) will continue to be a problem as things wind down.

I'm confident I'll get mine as a MY23, hopefully with a split rear seat and many of the software patches already rolled in. Not what I'd hoped for when I ordered, but I can live with it.

Ford Maverick ๐Ÿ“ˆ Maverick May 2022 Sales: 6,089 Sold / 7,842 Produced 1654194252523

108,000 +/-

Edit: if allowed to amend my thoughts, I expect ford had a pretty good handle on daily order rate and expected production volume. Seeing how abruptly they cut off orders for hybrid and then later ecoboost, I expect they saw a trigger point and pulled the plug. So, I expect that bulk orders received were closely related to bulk production targets.

We do now know, that trim level constraints and shortages have hampered production. It seems, and has previously been predicted, that this just allows more unconstrained units/bodies to become available for dealer stock and the constrained units/orders get pushed to MY23.

Nonetheless, early on, pundits said suppliers were told to plan for a 100K MY volume and that seems to bare true today. A nominal 10% backlog is most always a good thing.

IT sure looks like the Maverick sales canalized the Ranger sales. The combined Maverick and Ranger sales aren't as great this year as the Ranger sales were last year. I wonder if Ford is worried about this?
I think Rangers were great cause the price was great leading into the shortage, and they weren't selling all that hot before that I belive.

I know I looked at Dealer Demo Lariat 4x4's ( around 1k miles ) that were sold as new in 2020 and they were like 35k. I hesitated because I figured it was going to get refreshed, regret that.

Interesting to remember, figures never lie but liars sure can figure. You can make the figures say whatever makes you happy, but the reality is sometimes radically different.
There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics!

They made just under 8000 again. I don't think they've hit 70,000 total yet. Next 4 months, MAYBE 30,000 more built for a total of 100,000 for 2022 Mavericks. Do you honestly think that's ALL that were ordered by customers, fleet, orders, and some for dealer lots? 100k of a popular truck is nothing. Hell, Ford said thay had 100k reservations by the end of last August. I know not all go through are all kept...but a whole lot more were still reserved after that.
My rough calculations are they've built 66,500 through end of May. I do not think they achieved +100K actual valid orders before cutting off new ECOboost orders Jan 27th (and hybrid was already shutoff November 2021). I believe with *enough parts available* they could build a little over 100k before October production cut off. Again, You could be right, or I could be- only time will tell.

So...why bother cut off orders if odds are many orders roll to MY2023? They will be delivering trucks nearly 1 year out, why not keep feeding the funnel? Thinking either a) they really will finish building all the existing orders before MY23 or b) they're not happy with the way the ordering process has been managed or c) can't think of something else.

edit: I did think of a c) If they know orders will roll to the next year, they want to make sure they get next year's prices.

Find it interesting to correlate the total number of MTC members vs number of Mavericks sold (donโ€™t get me started in the โ€˜reservationsโ€™ quagmire!). Itโ€™s a significant %, I think. The data analytics experts will know for certain.

Also, it was highly entertaining to learn within this thread that a specific MTC member who wailed over a long period of time, with conviction, โ€œI know Iโ€™ll never get scheduled and will certainly be rolled into 2023โ€ received a โ€˜Youโ€™re Scheduledโ€™ notification.

This Forum never ceases to deliver!

Maybe if the Lariat Hybrid on the dealer lot down the street from me didn't have a $13K ADM on it, it would have been considered a sold unit,,,,

Theyโ€™re selling everything they make, with a lot of them being high-margin โ€œfancy โ€œ versions.

I think Mav production for the rest of the year is going to be way down, Fords priority for chips has shifted to the Lightning, Farley said every Lightning requires 3000 microchips. Lightning is where the money is, which is Fords priority.
Actually existing F-150 is the main money maker for Ford. I read somewhere they produce 1 per minute off the assembly line with all factories running at full capacity. Lightning reservations were capped at 200k, and that's less than 1/4 year of F-150 sales.

My buddy works at a Fold dealership and said that Ford will only be able to make 30K Lightning's. There will be 170K disappointed customers
