What was it before? Did you get a few tanks on the oem tires to compare?

I’ve got no idea, I put the tires on the same day as I got truck because I was getting credit for the factory tires but they needed less than 10 miles on them.

Those tires are 2” taller than your stock tires. Your speedometer is now reading ~7% slower than with stock 225-65-17 tires therefore the fuel economy appears lower by approximately the same value. The biggest change is that the stock tires are about 25 lbs where your 245 ATs are about 40, that’s a huge jump that will significantly impact fuel economy.

Running same size falken Rubitrek which are basically same tire as at3. I’m getting
39-41mpg combined. Calculated at the pump. If your going based of the dash I wouldn’t jump to conclusions.

And if you calculate by hand and the mpg still seem way off I would wonder if something in the hybrid system is not working like it should. That’s why I was wondering if you had gotten to drive it much on the original tires.

Any idea how many miles per tank of fuel you are getting?

I would expect a 10-12 hit. I don't understand buying the hybrid and then putting tires on it that ruin efficiency, but to each their own.

I would expect a penalty but not nearly that much. Oversize A/T tires on a hybrid Maverick seem as practical as A/T tires on a Mustang. At least use the same size A/T tire as OEM.

225/65R17 (stock) is 28.5" tall. 245/70R17 is 30.5".
I’m dumb, for some reason I was thinking 245-65-17. I’ll delete it

No, all of my statement is true.

I'm not addressing whether the speedometer was originally accurate or is accurate after the tire change. I'm talking about the relative change before and after

Adding tires that are ~2" taller than the originals will change the speedometer reading by ~7% over the original reading. And it will change the truck's calculated MPG the same amount...

Then you throw in tires that are 60% heavier and have a much greater rolling resistance due to their tread pattern .

I plan on installing Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails OEM size on my Hybrid. These same tires in OEM size gave us a reduction of 3MPG on my wife's Cherokee. If I anticipate a 5 MPG hit on the Mav, given the fact I only drive around 2500 miles a year and given the fact I will no longer need the semi annual trip to the tire store for the winter/summer tire swap at over at 40 bucks a pop now , the cost will be a wash at 6 bucks a gallon for gas.

The benefits will be a much more rugged tire to withstand our pot hole scarred roads. You know Murphy's Law on pot holes, right? Swerve to miss one and you will hit 3 others. It never fails. One of life's sacred rules. :D
