Well, I do think there is a good chance Ford changes what is included in the packages for MY23, based on constrained parts. @fordvideoguy has alluded to as much, basically saying that MY23 trim and package levels may be somewhat downgraded from what they are currently.

So, assuming Ford offers price protection for MY22 customers who are pushed to MY23, how will that work when the packages/options are no longer the same?

That is exactly what I was wondering about too. I fear having to wait 9 months then be told I have to start over and increased cost. I ordered just before the price increase on these packages. I would think by now Ford would know if the can build them or not.

I ordered my XLT AWD on September 18 and dropped items from my build the first week of February. That said I kept the Lux package, co-pilot because that's what I want. I've seen other Lux w/ Co-Pilot packages built that were ordered after mine. Ford should be doing a lot of explaining.. but alas, Ford has no customer satisfaction sense. If your dealer doesn't have the allocations and the MY 23 models get built, they are going to the dealers with allocations regardless when you ordered. And that my friends, just plain SUCKS.

A really awesome move on Ford's part would be a "lease while you wait" program for all of us Maverick wannabes. A program where Ford would let you lease any car or truck they sell, and the lease would end with no penalty when your Maverick arrived. Lots of less frustrated Maverick buyers. Lots of used car inventory for Ford a few months down the road (that's a good thing right now).

If Ford offered to temporarily put me in an Escape or Bronco Sport or Ranger while I'm waiting for my Maverick, without insane terms, and with a guaranteed exit plan - I'd remember that in a positive way for years to come.

So, after listening to the @fordvideoguy livestream on YouTube last night, one of the big takeaways is that Ford plans to build more than 10,000 Mavericks in June (April scheduling). So, that's pretty good news, as it indicates a significant increase from current production levels.

Tim also said Ford has told dealers it intends to produce MY22 Mavericks until Oct. 21. So, that means there are still nearly FIVE FULL MONTHS of production to be scheduled. Assuming Ford can meet or exceed its June production quota for the remainder of the model year, you're looking at getting an additional almost 50,000 Mavericks scheduled, on top of all those that have already been scheduled and/or produced.

OK, so that's the GOOD news. Now, for the BAD news — at least for those of us with constrained items. The Lariat Luxury and XLT Luxury packages remain severely constrained, at just 13 percent and 14 percent of available build capacity, respectively. I believe what that means is that Ford can build no more than 13 percent of current Lariat production with the Lux pack and no more than 14 percent of current XLT production with the Lux pack.

So, assuming that situation does not improve, and Ford is building 10,000 Mavericks a month for the remainder of the production year, that means no more than 1,300 of those built each month will be Lariat Luxes, and no more than 1,400 will be XLT luxes. Or, taken as a whole for the remainder of the model year, Ford may only be able to schedule another 6,500 Lariat luxes and another 7,000 XLT luxes. Please tell me @fordvideoguy if I am not explaining this properly, but bottom line is things will definitely be "iffy" for those of us with luxury packages.

If you have a build without luxury or co-pilot 360, I would actually feel pretty confident about getting scheduled during MY22, barring significant additional setbacks in the supply chain.

So how much longer do I need to wait for a spare tire and a hitch, started my 6 month on April 4th.

So basically, your saying those of us with Lux packages should be ready to buy a Ridgeline or re-order for a huge wait for MY 23.... If they can't build them by October 21, then they sure as hell can't build them for MY 23... But I would bet that dealers will take orders for them and with the Ford Allocations System, New Orders will be built before Re-Orders. FORD JUST PLAIN SUCKS.

Tim also stated in a previous youtube episode that you will not have to "reorder" for MY23. Your order will convert (rollover) and be placed ahead of the newly ordered MY23 Mavericks.

Of course you can actually re-order (cancel your MY22 and order a new MY23) and suffer the fate you describe. I wouldn't. Ford plans to build those rollover orders first.

Ford isn't that evil but dealers will be happy to have you believe that over dealers being shady...

Edit: Changing the trim level for your MY22 order is an automatic re-order which puts you in the MY23 new order queue (again, from one of Tim's videos).

My dealer has already told me that it is unlikely I will get my Lariat Lux, ordered on 1/14, as a 22 unless I drop the Lux package.

I don't know, Ford seems to be really going out of the way to build as many Lariats and Lux optioned trucks as possible to maximize their profits, so it's hard to say how to go about increasing the odds of getting a truck built as soon as possible.

I would definitely drop the lux package in my order if it meant a build date immediately but that’s not the case. My dealership has few allocations is the problem, Tim is getting 85 this month and my dealer maybe 1 or 2

No, dealers will still get allocations. The primary shift seems to be that Ford will more closely follow order date for scheduling priority. But in the end, if an early order still has multiple constrained items, it may very well be passed over during scheduling for a later order which doesn't have as many constrained items.

Agreed. A "top-of-the-line" XLT pickup for less than $32,000, when used trucks with more than 100,000 miles are selling for more every day, is a steal.

According to the information that has been passed on, the allocation method does not apply to ordered Maverick vehicles. If there is an order in the system by the cut-off dates it will be built (within constraints) for MY22. Once built it will be shipped and sold. If your dealer ordered 10 customer vehicles and they can be built, it should happen. Same if a dealer ordered 300, the ones that can be built should be produced and shipped. "My interpretation is even if a Ford dealer only sells 300 cars a year, if they put in 200 legitimant and accepted customer orders before the deadline(s) they will get all those orders that can be built."

(I will say that this current ordering system is FUBAR. I have ordered a number of cars in the past-mostly European brands. I could only order something if the dealer had a future modifiable car allocated to them. If they did not, then one went on the "waiting list". Once an allocation became available the customer was contacted and given the opportunity to order. If the opportunity was declined, it went to the next on the list. If there was no one waiting for that particular car to order, then the sales manager ordered the car as a stock (and usually with a host of options to boost the profit). The only domestic car I ordered was no issue as the dealer had plenty of allocations at the time.)

Ford needs to stop the wholesale direct to consumer order process or adopt it full-on with a new model to prevent the considerable angst the current process has created. I don't believe this was well-thought out (or at the least, the response was not anticipated). And, of course the supply chain issue could not have been forecasted. The average automobile purchase in the US is rather impulsive and consumers are not conditioned to wait many months.

This is my interpretation of information gleaned from various threads. If this is not true, then please correct me.

The bad thing about having your order moved to a MY23 is (I think) it will not be produced until after 10/21/22. This is a year since I ordered. Unless they plan to produce MY22 and MY23 side-by-side.

I didn’t drop any packages as I wanted… what I wanted.

you just have to be patient, or switch up your order depending on needs.

getting a scheduling date for my build (lux/cp360) seemed like it wouldn’t happen, but I didn’t change my order except removing mud flaps and tonneau (accessories) to simplify the build.
