Love the truck a lot. Love the (too) loud chime somewhat less.

I've found directions for adjusting the chime volume in several other makes and models of vehicle, but not for the Maverick or any Ford, for that matter. Do any of you brilliant folks know how to do this?

Not exactly what you were looking for but I'm not sure Ford let's you control the volume.

I'll preface this by saying I always use my seat belts on the road. With that being said, I use my truck on large job sites a lot and many times have to move my vehicle throughout the job site. Therefore, I turn off the driver's seat belt reminder so I don't have to constantly hear it.

From the owner's manual.

Note: The driver and front passenger warnings switch off independently. When you perform this procedure for one seating position, do not buckle the other position as this cancels the process.

Read Steps 1 - 4 before proceeding with the programming procedure.
Make sure that:
  • You set the parking brake.
  • The transmission is in park (P).
  • The ignition is off.
  • You close all vehicle doors.
  • You unfasten the driver and front passenger seatbelts.
  1. Switch the ignition on.Do not start the engine.
  2. Wait about one minute until the seatbelt warning light switches off. After Step 2, wait an additional five seconds before proceeding with Step 3. Once you start Step 3, you must complete the procedure within 30 seconds.
  3. For the seating position you are switching off, fasten then unfasten the seatbelt three times at a moderate speed, ending in the unfastened state. After Step 3, the seatbelt warning light switches on.
  4. When the seatbelt warning light is on, fasten then unfasten the seatbelt. After Step 4, the seatbelt warning light flashes for confirmation.
This switches the feature off for that seating position if it is currently on.
This switches the feature on for that seating position if it is currently off.

I believe there is a government regulation for the required minimum volume of the seat belt sound and the frequency of it's alarm - no adjustment allowed - as I understand it.....

I don't think he is referring to the seat belt chime but rather the door ajar chime that goes off when you first open the door and sit in the drivers seat.

Yes it is rather loud and borderline obnoxious IMO. Doo-da-loo, Doo-da-loo, Doo-da-loo, over and over.......

I'm pretty sure they work in unison as both are turned off in my truck.

If the noise does not come out the truck's speakers, find the actual noise maker and, if possible, put some heavy tape over it (by heavy tape, I mean thick). Adjust the volume by adding layers of tape.

Odds are that that same noise maker is being used by Ford to notify you of other 'events', so this may not be a great idea.

Good luck.

Did you just do that process you listed for the driver door, or was there more to it?

Exactly! That's the one. It's loud enough to be heard in the house when windows and doors are closed, and, honestly, I don't understand the purpose. Why do I have to announce to the world that I'm getting into or out of my truck?

That's the "sneak out on the spouse" or "sneak in on the wildlife" protection feature.

If you take the keys out of the ignition and its supposed to stop. That sound is to let you know that the keys are in the ignition and the driver door is open, so you don't lock your keys in of your on your way out. If you have a keypad, then yeah, its pointless.... Also the ford pass app.... OK, by the end of me typing this, I'm on board. Thay noise has to go.
