I'm guessing this happened when I remote started. Got an appointment with my dealer 4 weeks from now. I'm hearing Ford is doing nothing about it. I bought a brand new vehicle. Ford fix your s***

Edit: The shield could be like this from the factory, I apologize for that. However, the glowing cat is still a problem Ford should fix. Not just send a software update to not cause it but also fix any damages already caused.

What’s the problem? I don’t see an issue
I'm guessing it shouldn't be warped like that? Still waiting on mine, don't know what it looks like

Geez, that catalytic converter must have gotten extremely hot to warp the heat shield up like that

The shielding is warped. It's supposed to be smooth metal. The catalytic converter was glowing so hot it melted and warped it's shield. The shiny part should not have warps.
You are joking right? Good one. Almost got me.

Are you remote starting on cold mornings?

I was but stopped it after I heard about this problem. Didn't check it then.

Funny, the OP states Ford is doing nothing to correct the issue, then posts a link showing the PCM update is due out in ~2 weeks.

That update will prevent it from happening after it is released. But Ford is not doing anything to correct the damage. Infact they claim there's no damage. According to them catalytic converter glowing and the shield and potentially the cat melting is normal. Any mechanic would know it's not.
