Have you ever checked on Pure-Gas.org for any non ethanol stations? Within an acceptable driving distance.
Around here at least, at the few stations that have ethanol free gas, it's way more expensive than regular. Certainly not worth it to squeeze out a couple more mpgs

Ive had this truck 4 months. I don't drive a lot and I currently have about 2k miles on the odometer.

AWD, 4k tow running 245 65 17s and 1 inch front level lift. K&N drop in filter, no other mods. 89 octane gas used every time. Standard drive mode. I use it for personal transport and dont haul any heavy loads. Tire PSI set to 35.

I live in NW Indiana and do mixed driving of hwy and streets. I drive normally and I'm not a leadfoot. I don't use remote start or sit in traffic. I am getting absolute horseshit mileage. I have not seen 20mpg. I understand the figure may be off a tad with the slightly different tire size but other people with the same truck and mods are claiming 30mpg. WTF gives already? I bought a small truck to save on gas mileage. My V6 equinox was a gas pig and got better mileage. Its one of the reasons I dumped it. With the the gas $ now going through the moon its starting to bother me. I have the money but I didn't buy a "baby truck" to piss money away on gas. I bought this truck to get a few more mpg than the equinox and I was expecting to get at least 22mpg. I understand going up a size in tires may kill 1-2 mpg but come on now. Enough with this BS already. Im tired of the.excuses. Im seeing 17-18mpg tops. Less than 280 miles per tank. I am always putting gas in this truck. I've reset all settings twice to start from scratch to see if that helped and it has not.

Anybody have any ideas what could be going on? I cant be getting 10-12 less than other members with the same truck. Winter gas blend, altitude, driving style/ BS already. 10-11 mpg less than others is NOT normal. Something is wrong here and I'm getting pissed. The biggest reason people buy small trucks to save on gas.

I am your southern neighbor in south central KY and lived in IN for 18 yrs. I know how flat the land scape is and your fuel mileage sounds horrid.

I have a full loaded 2.0t Lariat Lux since Nov. with 3200+mi. It has bed rails and tonneau cover and I’m see 24.5 mixed mileage even when I carry a load of kayaks.

I would be hounding Ford and my dealer for some answers. That just sound right.

Have you done a hand calculation on your gas usage to see if the gauge is off? Also if you wanted the better gas mileage you shouldn't be adding lifters and larger tires which drop MPG. Not only that but the 4K tow package comes with a higher gear ratio for the drive axle which is already less economical from a fuel stand point than an non 4K tow package. If you look at the bar code sticker in the front door jam you'll see a section on it called Axle. There are 3 possible values 38, 36 and 29. the 4K packages will be 38 or a 3.81 axle ratio. The others, 2.91 and 3.63 are for non 4K tow builds. If that lifter and tires are a big part of the problem when you use eco mode you'll gain back about 5 MPG. In that case if you don't remove your mods a custom tune is in order to gain back some of that lost MPG.

That K & N filter may also be part of the problem. Put your stock air filter back in right before your next fill up and see if that helps any.

Strictly around town, without any highway I am less than 20 mpg. I do normally drive a mix with highway. Overall at 4,200 miles computer indicates 26.1. Most miles are highway. It does pretty well on highway at 65 mph, really BAD at 80-85. I have a lariat and there is an indicator bar which shows instant mpg figures. Try driving while looking at that, sort of like the old vacuum gage method. Best I got was 70 miles on highway at 65 of 33.2mpg right after a fill up. Stock rolling stock. Keep the faith.

Yeah, I forgot about the KN. Horrible idea. Put the paper filter back in.

Well, you're averaging only 500 miles a month, so you are taking a lot of short trips.
I have learned with my Expedition that the worst thing for mileage is letting it sit and idle, whether it's in your driveway warming up or at the car wash, whatever.
I bet if you take it out for a Sunday cruise tomorrow, go to Indianapolis with the cruise set at 63.... and you'll get 28 miles a gallon.
As a side note, I had a car once with busted motor mounts, and so I had to drive it really really really easy for a month or so until I could get it fixed. Wow did I get good mileage!! I inadvertently learned a lot of high-mileage techniques, like coasting to stop signs, really slow gentle accelerations, etc.
So I don't want to lecture you because you know what you are doing, but the last thing I would say is we sometimes get smaller vehicles thinking that because it's small, we can drive like teenagers again and still get good gas mileage!! Well, unless you're driving a hybrid, that just ain't gonna happen.
Hey good luck, hope with warmer weather you see your mileage creep up.

I’ve only done city driving in my 2.0. I’m getting 19.4 mpg. I’ve filled up with mid 1 time & premium 1 time. Pretty sure it came from the dealer with regular.

Things that kill FE:

Winter conditions/cold temps
Winter gas
Short trips
Stop and go city driving
Excessive speed
Additional unsprung weight (bigger wheels/tires)
higher ground clearance (altered aero)
Driving style (aggressive/abrupt transitions, multiplied with forced induction)
GVW
Trailering
Engine mod's (poorly engineered)
Poor quality gas/high ethanol content
Headwinds/hills
Low tire pressure
Aggressive (tread) tires
Bad alignment (four wheel)

And probably more to a lesser extent....

I was going like 80-85 all the way from Naples to Fort Lauderdale. Makes a lot of sense why my mpg was low when I got it lol I believe I have about 700 miles on it so far.

It's the mods, that's what it is. Don't waste your time hounding the dealer as suggested, it will just frustrate you further.

I feel for you and your concern for the low mileage. Just my suggestion, I would start by reinstalling the OEM air filter. The K&N could be over oiled and effectively choking the Ecoboost. Next I would check for parasitic power loss. Dragging brakes or a bad wheel or driveline bearing can rob a lot of extra power. Jack it up and check for resistance or how freely the wheels roll.

It's your driving habits. I drive a small car that gets 26 city, 36 highway. If I'm strictly doing short "city" style trips I'll absolutely get mpg in the low 20s. So here's your larger and more inefficient maverick plus mods getting a few mpgs under it's specified city rate of 23 mpg. Perfectly understandable. Like other said, reset it, too it off and go do a 15 minute ride in cruise control at 60mph and check the mpg manually and on the cars computer

You really just want to complain, not understand, right? Seems to be a toxic vent rather than a request for assistance, understanding, but alas.

You lifted the truck
You put in the K&N filter and put on bigger tires
You're comparing your mileage to people who drive differently from you, likely in very different weather. Maybe you're even comparing against hybrid drivers' mileage reports.
You don't tell us how much of a lead foot you are
You claim that this includes a decent amount of highway driving and don't do a lot of idling, yet you average ~22.6 mph.
You talk about remote start but that only matters when you hand-calculate your miles driven between stops to the gas it takes to fill up to the same level (first time preferably the same pump clicks off) against the trip odometer for that tank. Has no bearing on the mpg displayed on the dash.
You don't tell us what your Equinox was rated relative to what you got out of it.
You don't tell us if you're driving this Maverick in the same way. Don't even tell us if you're using Sport mode, for instance, which is much less efficient than Eco or even Normal.

You claim it's "BS" that you're not getting ~30 mpg when your driving at best matches the city profile, where it's rated for 22mpg city, vs. 29 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined. Factoring in what you did to the poor truck, winter weather and winter blend gas, and your irrational anger that implies you are not remotely gentle with the throttle, 18mpg is entirely reasonable.
