Would it be a relatively easy swap of the 2.0? Just a wild idea. Basically the same engine. Maybe a few tuning changes needed.

I don't know if the 2.3 block is the same as what came in the Focus RS but I believe most high horsepower focus builds use the 2.0 block as apparently it's much more stout than the 2.3 block. Something else to consider......

Ever watch Bitchin Rides? Why stop at 2.3? A big crate engine, 37" wheels, big lift with fore links and an additional $67,000 and you have something truly different,
Favorite show!

I just rented a Ranger with the 2.3 and thought it was noisy. How much horsepower is that engine?

Quite a bit more than the 2.0, 300hp and 325 lb-ft of torque
Ranger 2.3 is only 20hp more than maverick. It’s 270/310.

maverick is 250/277

Relatively easy engine swap? Haha it appears the engine bay has the space. If thats what you mean. I mean… the hybriid fits a 2.5 in there.

The Mustang 2.3L version is 310hp/350 ft Lbs and they wake up with a good tune

Heck, just enabling the Sport mode in my FX4/4K rear end and it feels like I have the 2.3L in my Maverick now.

My 2.3 in my focus RS makes 500hp an 550trq at the wheels up here at a mile high in Denver.. which would be fun in the Maverick. Doubt the auto trans would be happy though.

Seem like you'd be better off just upgrading the turbo, intercooler, fuel pump, injectors and run full e85 with a Dyno tune. Should make in the 400hp area to the wheels

My bad, I assumed it was the same as the 2.3 in the Bronco I ordered which is advertised 300/325. Not sure why there's a discrepancy between the Ranger and Bronco with the same engine.

Assume you are talking about a similar FWD transverse mounted 2.3? The Ranger 2.3 motor for example probably would not be an easy swap.

They are just tuning it differently. Ford seems to do that a lot between trims and vehicles with the 2.0 and 2.3 engines.

There is a Ford Performance tune available for the Ranger (took about a year to come out...here is hoping there is one for the Maverick, since it is fully warrantied!) - that tune adds 45hp and 70 torque. I would absolutely fork out for something similar for the Maverick!

The ranger weighs around 700 pounds more as well. The ten speed transmission doesn’t overcome that weight with only 20/30 more engine power in my opinion. The 2.3 in the ranger is underpowered to me as is.
The 2.3 in the explorer is 300, I thought the 2.3 bronco was the same as the ranger. Didn’t know the bronco was the higher hp variant.

I’d really like to see the 2.3 300hp variant in the maverick in the future for an ST version.
