My 2.0 has started getting the odor of crankcase gasses in the cab and it's driving me crazy, trying to figure it out. The only modification I've made, is the addition of a catch can. Before you rush to judgement... All the connections for the catch can are tight and I cannot see/smell it leaking anywhere while running.

Any ideas?

I see you purchased on 11/23/21. How many miles do you have on the OD? You mentioned a catch can....those don't normally come stock. Just checking so don't take this personally but is the can installed correctly? I know you said it is but are you sure?

I would temporarily remove the catch can. Could it be blocked? 1000% certain it’s not reverse (or mislabeled)? What brand?

I doubt it's the catch can/hoses causing a combustion fumes leak into the cabin. All aftermarket automotive products sold in the U.S go through very strict/multi-year performance/durability testing just like the OEM automobile manufacturers do.

Remove catch can and see if the problem goes away. If the problem persists leave vehicle stock and take in for warranty repair of the problem. If the problem goes away, catch can is the problem.

Mine is all stock without any modifications and approximately 8500 miles, but has been getting same odor for a little while now and I’m unable to find the source and will ask them when getting oil changed next week at the dealership.

While the catch can might be installed correctly, also consider that while it was installed something else might have been bumped, loosened, broken, cracked etc.

Working on boats, the goal when fixing one thing is to break as few other things as possible. Please don't ask how I know

Please update us here. Could be a faulty part or assembly line shift issue.

It's one of @Buschur catch cans. It's solid and the hose connections are all tight. I seriously don't think it's the problem.

Stop posting things you know absolutely nothing about, that’s one of the most ridiculous, false things I’ve ever seen posted on a Forum. LOL

Gotcha, I’m not disparaging his products in any way, but one of the first rules of troubleshooting is to reverse the last change when a problem is encountered.

Good luck, let us know what happens..

I just went out and drained the can.. Not much in it, considering the last time it was drained, was ~2,000 miles ago. What I did find, was oil on the pipe, that's directly behind the valve cover connection for the catch can hose. It wasn't like that when I posted the original question.

From what you guys can see from the photo, does it look like that hose might be a bit too long?
