It's one chip that is needed in every vehicle no matter what the trim or equipment is.

That certainly sounds more manageable than if several modules need some kind of chip(s) that Ford can't get. Thanks for the update!

Thanks Tim for confirming that not all of these orders are going to be MY22.

I'm fine waiting until MY23. I pick up a CRV Hybrid Touring (wife wouldn't sign off on FWD Escape PHEV) tomorrow since Ford parked by Bronco in a field in Michigan in 2 feet of snow.

I'll rock the CRV for a year until the MavBrid arrives.

Update from the Maverick Brand Manager:

These (chip shortages) are all related to 1 specific chip related feature. These should leave the plant in a first in first out basis.

Are you saying I'm one chip short of a Maverick?

I understand customers that are willing to drop items to get scheduled, However I ordered the truck I want. It is likely to be my daily for the next 8 to 10 years so I don't want to get less than what I am happy with. I really wish FORD would communicate better with their customers. Just reaching out directly and giving us information would go a long way to alleviate the fears and misinformation.

Last August the idea of removing items to get your truck scheduled sooner was taking hold. Some changed their Hybrid order to EcoBoost or some other radical changes. I would not make changes that would impact me and leave me unhappy over the next decade plus years.

I had placed my 2022 Maverick Hybrid XLT order 8/23. On the order I had Splash Guards, Hard Drop-in Bedliner, Wheel Locks and Co-Pilot360 on the order.

I made two changes to the order in the following week to help in getting scheduled:

First change:

Remove Splash Guards and Hard Drop-in Bedliner because these were late availability. These items could be ordered from parts and put on after I received my truck.

I also added the Bed Mat to the order for bed protection until I installed the Hard Drop-in Bedliner.

Then came the constraint list for September with the Bed Mat listed at 10%.

I took a long hard look at what I absolutely wanted and took off everything else.

I wanted the 2022 Maverick Hybrid with Co-Pilot360. There was no compromise as without the Hybrid or the Co-Pilot360 I would not have wanted the truck.

So the second order change I removed the Bed Mat and the Wheel Locks. During the time leading up to this second change I added the 110V/400W Outlet in the Cab and the manual Rear Sliding Window as I had a use for them and they were not constrained at the time.

Three weeks later I had a schedule date.

As of now the parts I ordered for my truck have come in and I have installed the Splash Guards and received the Hard Drop-in Bedliner which will be installed soon.

So my moral is don't compromise or settle for something that isn't what you really want just to get the truck sooner.

However the advice to remove things that can be added after you receive your truck is solid advice.

So - have not seen this…IF you are scheduled then Ford has he Chips and everything to produce your vehicle? No partial build then out to pasture?

I have a build 2/21 - trying to figure out if that is pipe dream or actually something that has a good chance of happening. Need to sell my Honda Ridgeline somewhere around that time.

I've seen it stated both ways. Ive seen it posted that Ford won't schedule you if they don't have the parts, but they wouldn't be filling the parking lot with unfinished trucks if that were the case. Ford seems to be prioritizing keeping the line moving over completing trucks, it seems. Probably the right answer but I do wish Ford hadn't bungled this whole thing.

Telling older orders not to drop as they would get filled first assumes they are filling older orders first which we all know is not the case. Its a random roll of the dice for all. Anyone that ordered 6 months ago should have already gotten their truck.

What about 8 months ago?

Guess we now know how Ford will keep from rolling all those MY22 vehicles they can’t complete into MY23. They’ll build it to whatever level they can and put them in the desert until the finishing parts (chips) become available.

So I wonder if they are wheeling all the hybrids off the assembly line right now out into the fields. I'm kind of glad I ordered a bare bones hybrid XLT with just a back seat power outlet. My build was supposed to be next week (2/7) but did get moved back to 2/28. We'll see, I am expecting the 3 month sit in the field but hoping that it might just get completely build and shipped within the 4 to 6 week time frame.

Husband's was built last week and shipped yesterday.
