To me, it would be a simple fix if Ford would contact every person with SIBL order and ask them if they would either replace it with a DIBL or remove for a slight price reduction or keep and wait for you order to get built. This would especially be good to do on all XLT orders since going forward SIBL is no longer offered anyway. I'm wouldn't be surprised to see in MY23 that SIBL is also removed from the Lariat LUX package and made a stand alone option all together.
This! @Ford Motor Company...do it! ;)

What? 😠
*Throws shoe at Timothy Bartz shrine.*
To what deity should I solicit to deliver my Maverick now?
Maybe Im missing something, but why would a SIBL cause such a delay? Yes, I understand the vehicle may have to travel to a different shop, but why would that cause more than a few days, at most, delay?
SIBL is a time consuming off line process.

If we assume the line can produce 1 vehicle a minute (pretty normal rate) and it takes the better part of 20 min to prep the bed, do the spray, then put it back together at a single off line SIBL work station, then SIBL capacity would be limited to 5% of vehicles.

I have no idea if those are the exact numbers, but given so many people ordered Lux with SIBL, pretty sure the constraint is something along those lines.

My order is early Oct - Lariat Luxury Hybrid. I will not be changing anything about it. If it gets pushed to 2023, that’s fine with me.. though I hope I was early enough to avoid that.

Either way, I am not concerned. I know I will get what I ordered eventually, and likely this calendar year.

Funny, I ordered back in mid August thinking I'd surely have my Hybrid XLT/360/Lux before the onset of winter and the first snow so I could lay up my Shelby for the Winter - guess I got that wrong. The Shelby sucks in the snow BTW.... :p

Ordered my Maverick lariat with Lux Pkg 6/21. Received email stating production for 3/14. a week later I received another email saying production moved to 4/11. I am not changing anything on my order. I ordered what I wanted on my Maverick. If it takes another month to get, I am good with it.

The problem with the SIBL is the chemicals needed to make the liner and they are in short supply everywhere not just with Ford. So if your Maverick order has it then Ford won't schedule the build unless they have supplies on hand (or scheduled to arrive during the building process) Even though SIBL is done at a different location, not have the material will delay your build from getting started. Which as Naranjita has stated has been a constraint almost since the first Mavericks were made!
i work for a privately owned downhole oil tool company in texas that manufactures products with various types of proprietary and patented rubber compounds. we are unable to produce or deliver. i have worked here 25 years and this is not "situation normal". our product uses way less components than a new ford maverick and no microchips.
also we cant find steel. so, we buy steel from a source we would not have considered in the past. they provide "MTR's" (material test reports) that meet our requirements.
guess what, the material does not meet spec. we have seen failures in our standard "FAT" (factory acceptance tests) on simple items that specify a low grade material that have never failed before.
the supply chain issue is real.

Whomever designed trim levels and the luxury packages did so with two things in mind.

Making builds fairly standard with few major standalone options. effectively making five trim levels. (XL, XLT, XLT lux, Lariat, Lariat lux) I can see where this would make production easier (assuming all parts were on hand, which is where the problem seems to lay)

Making sure the majority of buyers would see things in the package that they wanted, and could not get as a standalone option. whether they chose to spring for it or not was another story, but Ford wanted as many as possible to take the upgrade.

I think they found out that more people are willing to buy upgrades if the base price is lower, and the number of lux packages exceeded forecasts

In my case I wanted a hybrid for the milage and prefer leather seats. (Looks like Lariat for me)
My wife has a bad back, heated seats are a necessity for road trips. (Well, that means Lux package, and since its a lariat that forces copilot 360 also)
We both wanted a sunroof, so that's our one standalone option.

I couldn't care less about lane centering, lane keeping, adaptive cruise, or much of the other fanciness that is getting turned off as soon as I get my truck. Hell even the spray in bedliner wouldn't be on my order. I would have had it done locally so the local Linex place would be there for any warrantee work.

Just my thoughts on it as I wait for the coffee to kick in.

How we got to this point is even more unreal. What a despicable state of affairs we are all in right now.

I inquired about dropping the SIBL for my hybrid XL ordered on 10/15. My salesperson advised against it saying I could be moved to the back of the line or to a 2023. Hmm.

This news is why I am trying to chase an Escape PHEV across the country as a stop gap (or permanent vehicle) until the Maverick gets produced.

Sounds like chasing one unicorn in lieu of another.

This unicorn has real pictures though! I have zero hope it is actually in stock and still available BUT if it is - I am hopping on a plane this week (if weather allows) and driving that bad boy 600+ miles home.

I watched the stream last night and also happened to order a Lariat Lux on 1/26. Might not be able to get built this model year, which is fine with me. If I roll to a 2023 model, I want to get the hybrid anyway. In fact, if they asked me to cancel my order in exchange for a Day 1 order for a 2023, I would do it. I won’t drop the Lux package just to have the truck built this year, is not worth it to me.

Luckily, I don’t need a vehicle right now. I can keep my Ranger until the end of the lease and then extend it or buy it out if need be. I would rather have the Maverick but at least I have options. I know some folks don’t.

Hang in there everyone. We will all get our Maverick’s one way or another even if some of us wind up getting a 2023 model.

He specifically mentioned Spray-In Bedliner. EDIT: He also mentioned other constrained items from the Lux Packages are largely microchip related. Electronic components need more chips, like heated steering/heated seats/ACC/Lane Centering/upgraded stereos, etc. Take a listen...
I wonder how many chips are in a spray in bedliner?

I'm not dropping anything just to get a Maverick. May wait for the fj ev if the ford falls through. Not overly impressed with it anymore. Last f150 was a rust bucket.
