This is where I'm getting confused. If it comes with front carpeted floor mats standard, I would just buy the weather tech drop in liners. Heres a screen shot. Liners for $135, and liners with carpet mats for $175.
Maverick, like almost every new vehicle I'm aware of, comes with carpet mats standard.

For $135, you can swap those out with the all-weather liners.

For $175, you can keep the carpet mats and add the all-weather liners.

For anyone considering this offer, keep in mind how allocations play into the formula of when you will get scheduled. One of the reasons Granger mentioned for the offer was "This is going to be a dual benefit. First, it will help our allocation for our early reservation holders."

I have no doubts about Granger being a great dealer, but no one there is able to provide me with any clue as to when I might get my Maverick. This is not their fault, but the way FMC has decided to do things.
Granger did include an estimated wait time of 6-9 months in their emailed response to me this morning. This is for the Ecoboost.

As for the it's not their fault.. well, sort of. The allocation system isn't perfect. But if Granger had offered the same deals as Long McArthur (MSRP) or Chapman (3-4% under invoice) and left off the $1000 nonrefundable deposits, they probably would have received more orders early in the process leading to more allocations now.

Instead, they're making this play late in the game. So, not sure I agree it's "not their fault".

Does the $3000 off Grainger Iowa deal apply to Maverick Lariat?
As I read the original post, it applies to a new order being placed today or later. If you already have an order with them you will get what your previous offer was (3% below invoice), unless you cancel that order and place a new one.

If you do have a lariat already on order, the $ difference between $3K and 3% below invoice may not be worth the extra wait (I would estimate it to be between $500-800 better, but not having a truck for several more months at minimum).

With regards to the $1K deposit, it was 100% worth it, and my overall buying experience was one of the best I've had in 20+ vehicle purchases.

Will you have to wait? Yes, an undetermined amount of time...just like anyone else ordering right now.

Will they try and screw you? No.

Why such a high amount? From what I have read and understood here and with my order with Granger, it seems like Ford doesn't like these volume dealers much (I suspect it has to do with other dealers complaining about lost sales...). The odd thing I see in this, is that this sort of sales practice fits much better with Ford's direction of build-to-order sales. That there are a couple of dealers willing to sell below MSRP/Invoice really shouldn't bother them.

The $1K deposit is an additional proof of sale to legitimate customers - no shady dealers ordering through shell buyers to game the system if they are putting up a valid DL and a significant deposit for the vehicle purchase. Nothing more, nothing less - Granger doesn't gain anything by holding this money other than having proof of a legitimate sale when Ford comes asking - they aren't running a pyramid scheme or trying to hedge the market with your $1,000 - that is illegal and $1,000 is not that much money to a business's overall operation.

When I read non-refundable, I suspect in reality it would be refunded under extenuating circumstances. The timing of a refund request would also probably be considered - no VIN yet? probably going to issue you a refund. Built and shipped, coming next week? maybe not. Has there been an instance of anyone actually requesting a refund at this point?

All it would take is 1 bad experience talked up online to end any one of these dealers good will.

At the end of the day, don't order from them if you're not intending to take delivery. Life happens, I am sure they would work with someone who has to back out due to extenuating circumstances.

If you're one of those forum members that is hedging a build just to get something sooner than another dealer, don't bother with their offer. Simple as that.

I don't doubt your buying experience, and am glad it was positive.. but there's a lot here that is speculation.

1 - Long McArthur seems to have quite a good relationship with Ford in spite of being a volume dealer.
2 - You're required to submit your ID for any order, deposit or not. This is the way they prevent dealers creating false orders. The deposit is a dealer practice and Ford doesn't care either way.
3 - Granger says "nonrefundable". They don't list exclusions or extenuating circumstances where exceptions would be made.
4 - Ecoboost wait times at volume dealers are much shorter than Granger's 6-9 month estimate. I did order an Ecoboost from Long McArthur for MSRP, no deposit on 12/26, and expect to be scheduled in this next round - dealer expects this, too.
5 - I don't believe the majority of people are ordering trucks they don't plan to pickup. I'm sure that some do. Other dealerships are excited by this prospect, as they mark them up and sell to the general public. I'm sure Granger will do the same and walk with your $1,000.

This is not a good policy, plain and simple. It does not align with the successful models that other dealers are running.

I was in on the deal for $100.00 deposit, but now that it is $1,000.00 I’m out. Too many uncertainties and by the time they fill the order eco boost should be readily available.

Regarding non-refundable, you are right I am speculating. I still stand behind my comment that it would take just 1 bad transaction posted online to undo all of the good will. With that said, it should be taken at face value as a non-refundable deposit.

My understanding as to why it was raised and changed to non-refundable for the Maverick (I believe it was $500/refundable with the Bronco), is because of the Bronco. They are the #1 volume dealer of the bronco, and the practices being applied to the Maverick ($1K, non refundable) are due to pressures from Ford related to their high volume Bronco sales.

Ultimately it is up to a potential buyer to weigh the pros and cons - saving $ is a pretty big pro.

With regards to allocations and scheduling, my advice will remain the same - don't add on anything that is a constraint, or something you can get yourself afterwards (unless it is part of a package option). Skip the floor mats and mud flaps, get those online or separate from the dealer, and you'll be scheduled sooner than later.

There will be few if any stock orders of the Maverick being built for a good while. Longer than the 6-9 months estimated based on demand.

I could care less if it takes 6 months to get a vin issued on this thing , and get it on the assembly line. I already have a ighh mileage daily driver with working A/C and decent tires that I'm not going to turn in. I will keep using that, knocking down the overtime at work and waiting for a vin. First though I am waiting on a call back. The $1000 deposit is reasonable given the circumstances.

I'm curious though if this thing doesnt get allocated to be built until 2023 because of vehicle backlog, will the offer of $3000 off MSRP still be honored providing the deal is done by Jan 31st?

I think Zach presented a legit offer. I also think there were some taking massive advantage of the offer; for profit or sabotage, who knows...

Give Granger a day or a few to sort this out. It's definitely an interesting strategy, but kinks presented quickly.

As for the change in deposit, Zach should correct the original post ASAP and state the reason. Then folks can make a decision based on updated information.

I would suggest that the deposit have some flexibility, but I know they want greater assurances/stability. Unfortunately, the situation and good faith on seller/buyer needs some attention.

Hope it all works out.

The Details:

$3,000 OFF MSRP on any new Retail Maverick order placed from December 27th through January 31st.
$100 Non-Refundable Deposit Required
Only 2.0L Orders are being taken currently by Ford
As always $180 Doc Fee, $45 In-transit fee.
No drop-shipping, no other hidden fees.

Why? This is going to be a dual benefit. First, it will help our allocation for our early reservation holders. Second, it will be a great offering for anyone looking to purchase a Maverick and is willing to wait.

This deal will absolutely end February 1st and will not be extended. We are doing this to help boost our allocation now and in the future.

What if I have an existing order? - We will be honoring the 3% under invoice for orders taken before December 27th. If you'd like to take advantage of the lower pricing you can cancel your existing reservation and transfer your deposit to a new order. You will however have your order timing reset and go back to the end of the line of potential allocation.

How do I place an order? - email [email protected] with the URL or a PDF from Ford's built and price tool.

Hopefully this softens the blow of the price increase to anyone on the fence for a new Maverick order.

Zach

A $1000 deposit, non-refundable in exchange for $3000 off seems like a decent tradeoff to me. Refundable deposits on cars are almost meaningless, nothing more than a piece of paper (check) stapled to another piece of paper.

Why the OP typed $100 is beyond me. The sales manager may have had second thoughts, maybe after reading all the nerds whining and crying on this forum? lol

From what you're saying, you are perfectly happy paying a $3000 premium over this great offer for the right to walk away when your truck arrives on the lot.

Many people who are 100% intent on buying a Maverick Ecoboost for delivery this summer will not flinch at the $1000 non-refundable in return for $3000 off sticker.
