The soy-based/rodent issues are typically in the wire harness insulation/jacketing, not from a molded plastic part, so I would not expect rodent issues from the cover. Not sure where Ford sources the wiring harnesses, but that would be where the "attraction" is, if there is one.
Pretty much all vehicles after my2000 use soy based wire coatings.

I got my cover in the mail this evening. It was packed in a box that was 2 inches shorter than the cover and was pretty badly warped. It would have probably straightened out after a time installed on the truck but it also had two deep indentations about the size of a quarter and about 1/4 inch deep on the top on it. It looks like something heavy was sitting on it in the warehouse. I wish I had just went to the dealer and paid full retail now. I am going to see if I can return or exchange this thing. Just a warning to anyone ordering one online.

Now if we can get one for the hybrid. You think Ford would thought of this...cost cutting bs.
Regarding the hybrid cover, take a look at comment #'s 30, 33, & 43. Looks like this will work.

I'm surprised someone even wanted one in the first place. Usually engine covers are a nuisance. If someone wants to easily service it they have to take the stupid cover off first. Plus, it's just a pointless feature.
Keeps it cleaner and quieter.

I worked for a dealer for almost 40 years, they have a habit of adding 5% to 15% to retail orders and sometimes wholesale too, theres no law that says they have to charge fords listed price, that's why you could be getting different prices from different dealers. also, if it was ordered overnight air, they could be adding the shipping costs, most dealers do a stock order weekly and for something they need quicker they overnight it which obviously cost them more and they make less on that part or pass the cost on to you.

****EDIT****

Updated to include the correct drivers side corner mounting stud part number as well as updated install photos. My apologies to anyone who bought the wrong part, I paid for it also if that means anything. It was not my intention to post misleading info, so I apologize.

Also, Shoutout to
rgunning00 for finding the correct part.

----------

I finally got all of the parts in and got my engine cover installed on my 2.0L Maverick XLT FX4. I wanted to create a parts list / install photo post so here it is. I think most of this has been covered before, but I know there was some confusion on what parts were needed an where they should be installed, so I hope this clears things up.

----------

I ordered all of my parts from https://www.fhmparts.com/

Parts list:

Engine Cover - K2GZ6A949A
Engine Cover Stud - AA5Z6N958A
Engine Cover Stud - W714647S450B
Lower Track Nut - W520201S450B

Total Price:

$80.56 + $18.46 S/H

----------

I'm not sure if having an engine cover really does anything or not, it seems to be debatable. I think it looks great and I wanted it to "button up" the engine compartment so for me it was more of a personal choice. After I drive it around for a week or so, I can let you guys know if it cuts down on engine noise and what not if requested.

Install was pretty straightforward. I included photos that show part install locations. Hopefully this helps. Cheers.

So, I really like the look of these, and the idea of keeping engine clean. I just want to make sure it won't HURT anything by putting it on. Did they not put one on the Maverick because it saved money? Or was there another reason. I am the opposite of a mechanic, so I just want to be sure.

Saving money. The same engine is used in multiple ford models and they have the cover from the factory.
