Never Again Ford! 2022 Maverick needs a new transmission

I would go with a used transmission too. 3k or so on eBay. Whether I would keep the truck...don't know. These transmissions are terrible, which is unfortunate because the 2.0 in its current gen is fantastic.

I would put a used one in without a doubt. Why are the 8F35 Transmissions terrible? If you drain an fill fluid every 30k... I have not seen widespread problems with the 2.0L -- 8F35 or 2.5L Hybrid HF45 at all?

Ownership of (-) 800 days divide into 50,000 miles = 63.13 miles per day.
Aug. 2023 > July 2026 = 1088(+/-) days.

That is not good, sorry about that. I would take it to an independent transmission shop and get their opinion. You could go with a low miles used 8F35 Transmission a lot of wrecked Mavs out there. And a question: how many miles are on it, and did you ever change your transmission fluid?

About 78K miles on it. I've had it in for regular service and don't know if transmission fluid was changed. But....I've owned lots of cars and don't think many of them have had transmission fluid changes and I put over 100K miles on all of those. None of those cars had transmission failures. My last car was a VW Tiguan with 130K miles and absolutely no issues. Tnx for noting the model of the transmission. I'm going to pick it up from the dealer and get it repaired at a reputable transmission place. I won't give Ford or their dealerships any more of my money.

You should check your records to see what Ford has done to your Mav when you took it in for service possibly you have some recourse there. And some advice for your replacement 8F35 Transmission every 30k miles change the fluid its easy to do a drain and fill and not expensive it will save you headaches. Get pricing for used and rebuilt. I don't know the details on his daily driving, as much as NOT knowing HOW he was using this vehicle. Just a Best Guess at most, since a guess of his current mileage was brought up.

Speaking of Maintenance....
I am going out to do, "Pup's" Monthly checkup... (fluids/tire pressures, any paint chips, etc...) and will look into that front windscreen drainage thingy...

Anecdotal, but what I've seen here over the past 4.5 years is significantly more 8F35 failures than the hybrid transmission. 2.0 and 2.5 issues are almost unheard of.

What exactly failed? What is it doing? A good trans shop might have a completely different diagnosis... I would be skeptical of any dealer/shop quoting $10K for a Maverick AT....

True, the HF45 eCVT does not use a torque convertor or valve body and clutch friction plates like the 8F35 does so it's going to last way longer than a regular transmission. They both should be serviced at 30k with ULV transmission fluid for longer service life.

Just found out from Autonation Ford here in Mobile that my 2022 Maverick needs a new transmission for over $10,000. Apparently one of the gears has gone and there's metal in the transmission fluid. Warranty has expired and I still owe money on that car. I hope people read this and bypass buying any Ford product.
