Right !
Precisely !
That’s the point !
Then you simply trade it in right before that extended warranty expires.

Again, my Gap insurance that just last month saved my ass also expires at five years.

I’m not gonna be one of those guys that pays it off after five or six years then it gets totaled or needs thousands in repairs.
Not this 67 year old kid.

Wisdom may come with age but you gotta think it through. You buy auto insurance to protect you against idiot drivers.
Then neglect to insure your vehicle against repairs and total loss that can cost as much or more than a crash with a bad driver.

My estimated cost of total piece of mind,
Five years of full coverage auto insurance with GAP,
PLUS
Five years of extended warranty coverage,
$130 a month,
Just the auto insurance is $90 a month so for a measly $40 more I’m fully covered.
Plus if you only use total replacement once in 25 or more years you are still ahead a bunch of $$$$.

Get a second opinion. There was a large chain of transmission repair shops that, back in the 70s and 80s, used to routinely tell the customer that their transmission's days were coming to a close due to "shavings in the pan". They'd then show the customer a little sample of the oil that they got out of the transmission when they did a fluid and filter change, and indeed, there was a small amount of metal in there.

Of course, what they didn't tell you what that was from ordinary wear and tear - why? Because they wanted to sell you a new transmission.

My position in life is "retired" - I have no idea who Dave Ramsey is - HYSA is not as good as a well executed mid length CD.

I have driven plenty of "rattle traps" in my day and over-extended myself on car loans as well. Crawled out of that nightmare and never looked back. it's a tough road for sure, but once you get past the "gotta have it" factor and use your income wisely, you will reap bigger rewards.

There are only three horses in my garage, a 1983 Mustang GLX convertible, a 2006 Mustang GT Convertible and a Troy-Bilt Pony riding lawn mower. None of them are high at all.
Your profile shows you have a Maverick Hybrid. How come that is not in the garage ?

G/f's car is in remaining open space....come winter, when the garage is rearranged - the Maverick will go inside.
