My factory tires WERE NOT worn out at 45,000 miles. But I changed them out when I saw a good price on new ones. And I tow. A lot. Like 3 days per month towing 3200 pounds or more. And I routinely have 1000 pounds in the bed.
This is my wife's Escape so really no interest in swapping out the wheels to save a little weight but I do appreciate the heads up on the $110 rebate on Continental tires.
Note: If you buy the Continental's and tell the dealer you want to put on the Continental tire credit card, he or you can get card setup and tires put on the "synchrony MasterCard". Interest free payments for 6 months (maybe longer depending on purchase price). BE CAREFUL the synchrony cards are interest free unless you miss a payment THEN interest will be back charged from date of purchase at 20-30-nn% interest. So pay online or buy bank draft and verify payment gets posted. The $110 will come as a prepaid credit card don't know if it will be credited to the synchrony card if you use that option.
Take a look on the sidewall at the expected life number. All of the factory tires say 600 or 650, meaning 60k or 65k respectively. Those numbers are federally mandated and tested, so if you can't get at least close to that then it's on you and not the tires. Lots of drivers can handily exceed it.Well that's a ridiculous, false statement..

The. Michelins are great tires. They may give a slightly better ride. But starting in 2025 Ford began to use the Goodyear in the lariat as well. Maybe they got a better deal. But if treadwear is the priority, the Goodyears are best. If ride, then it's likely the Michelins for the win. Since I drive around 40,000 miles yearly , tread life is my main goal.
The Continentals have a 450 or so something tread wear rating. So by their own admission, they wear quickly compared to others
I was just about to say the same thing . the treadwear numbers are IN HOUSE comparisons. By the way, some budget brand tires by the same manufacturer may actually UNDERREPORT the numbers (that's legal) . If their top tier and budget tire are the same tire with different labeling , they'll undereport the cheaper tire, so you won't realize it's the same tire at a cheaper price^^ Exactly.......
And the treadwear rating is really only the most useful when comparing the same brand of tires... A Goodyear 500 rating will/may not be the same as a Michelin or Continental 500 rating.
