1st… Gary is the OP of this thread so I’ll read his post. He likes the technically advanced turbo, an 8 speed significant gearbox, and engine/exhaust mods. So the simpler design over the battery and motor with basically a 2-piece trans.
I like the EB too, but no need to bring it down. I like how we are so polarized over our two great options.
Second non-responsive post in a row.
To review my question:

Objectively, what can the EcoBoost Maverick do that the AWD Hybrid with 4k tow can't do, other than the already mentioned accelerate faster?

An apple is objectively different than an orange.

A Hybrid powertrain is objectively different than an Ecoboost powertrain.

Asking which is better objectively is silly.

An apple objectively makes a juice objectively different than an orange

An Ecoboost Turbo objectively makes an engine sound objectively different than a Hybrid.

There are many differences objectively between the Hybrid and EB. Which is better or worse is subjective.

Ford Performance Garage makes objects that work only on the EB. Objective difference right there. Is that better? Yes and no:)

Besides, with all respect, if it’s performance, speed and power you want, most guys wouldn’t put any kind of Maverick atop their list.
I walk past my hybrid Maverick and get in my Mustang GT when I want to have some fun.

My 2022 hybrid was standard, then it changed, now the hybris is standard engine once again.
The demand for hybrid was so strong, they couldn't keep up. So made the EcoBoost the default and forced hybrid customers to pay up. Now, apparently supply and demand are fairly even for the hybrid so it's back to being the default.

As someone with a 22 Lariat Hybrid, I would never change back to a non-hybrid vehicle. My 40mpg lifetime since i got the truck has been well worth it. I've taken many long highway trips. Pulled my little 5x8 trailer around for a couple thousand of those miles. At 75k miles, it's been well worth it over the EcoBoost.

Actually, if buying an XL or XLT as equipped as above, an EB can save you $2220 dollars plus associated taxes and finance costs if buying a 26 model. Up to the buyer to determine his/her driving patterns and amount of use to determine if EB can give you a better value.

I think the EB can perhaps do another thing. On older models with more miles will the resale value of a hybrid have a higher percentage of the original cost. Guessing NO. Would a buyer of a four-year-old Maverick with 80 of 90k miles pay more for a hybrid than an EB. Not sure, but I am leaning on saying no, especially if gas prices ever get lower. Thoughts???

There are many on this forum that would have more fun in the hybrid. It is fun & challenging to maximize the mpg’s. Takes thought & strategies. Driving the Mustang GT would be boring for many. Dangerous and uncomfortable for others (me).

That said - you have good taste in personal vehicles!

Was curious about the stats so finally got them.
These are the things I figured mattered to one or the other having a benefit.
I think we know which ones benefit the hybrid.
Or being equal, but could show up an improvement depending on what you get.
Current price increase merely for hybrid? $1000 stated in video? (was 1500 on 24MY)

AWD - warmer out - hills (some rolling, some just up/down) - a little city traffic, mostly highway with some traffic slowdowns.
$4.45/gal fuel 87 oct.

119.5 miles in 2:20 hr = 51.2 mph.

EBHybrid
3.6742.696gal
$16.35$11.99total
32.5044.30mpg
$0.1368$0.1003/mile

Hybrid saves $0.0365 / mile in this driving scenario at then current prices.

27,397 miles needed to break even with extra $1000 cost of truck.

If/when fuel price drops it takes more.
If state charges higher registration for hybrid takes more.
If driving scenarios not as good a MPG takes more.
If driving better MPG takes less.
Some maintenance cost differences way out in miles/time.

Please correct me as I rushed some of that after trying to find figures on video and confirm correct.
city driving is where you will see the greatest gap in MPG between the Hybrid and EcoBoost

Yes, the Hybrid is better IMHO. I have a 2025 Lariat hybrid and am averaging 33.6 with mostly driving around town and running errands. I love it and so far not one single issue.

What makes your Mustang GT more fun than your Hybrid? Besides the engine, exhaust, and transmission;)
Only those that have owned or own a Mustang know.

Doing 85 on the interstate in a Mustang is like riding a Stallion or really energetic mare.

Doing 85 on the interstate in a Ford Maverick Ecoboost is like riding in an
AMG, M5 or a Toyota Supra.

Doing 85 in the Mavbrid is like, “Oh crap,
my Mpg’s are falling”

Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself.

Not everyone looks at vehicles as only objective numbers on a spreadsheet : )

There is nothing wrong with the hybrid- from a pure numbers standpoint it is the most logical.

But for those of us looking beyond the numbers..... the hybrid could be 5K cheaper and get 60 MPG but we would still buy the EcoBoost

Same thing with my fun car- I could sell my fun car and buy a used Tesla Plaid (and have money left over)- numbers wise it does everything better then my car....yet I wouldnt trade my car in a million years for a Plaid.......

85 mph in a Mustang? You could be hitting the gas when the light turns green and the Mustang still behaves like a stallion (although tech makes it behave better).
You’ve put the Mav in Sub-5 second territory? Nice comparisons!
I hope that someday the game of hypermiling will fade away from the initial sub-100hp Prius game people needed to invent over 15 years ago. Drive under 85 and store the hybrid if it’s cold outside. Or just enjoy the Maverick (actual mileage may vary). :like:
