It really, really shouldn't. The OLM is doing math that has no basis in reality, on something that needs to be properly tested to accurately reflect. Here's my recent oil sample report, with 26,726 on the oil:
Screenshot_2026-05-14_13-43-23.webp

After this oil change on 4-23, the truck sat for a week getting the battery replaced, was back on the road 4-30, OLM hit 0% at 104,998 (or 5,821 miles) on 5-12, 1,750 of those miles being deadhead (no trailer attached).

So, just because I tow, the OLM drops to 0% in 2 weeks, with half the recommended miles, so I probably reset it 5-6 times in between actual oil changes.

Actually, I think I may have to start replacing the air filter more often than getting an oil change...

ETA: I would be interested to hear from an EB owner on what their reports look like, I suspect they will be fine past 10k even with "normal" drive cycles.
Oh - you gotta put that info here!

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/longest-eb-oil-change-interval.82259

But interesting anyway - 4k towing, 1750 not - recommended change.
Seems to be following the severe section of the chart that was supplied in prior post.
Even as EB is different, still useful to show.

Did those 26k miles have the same mostly towing miles on the oil?
Ya - great report.

The mix may be a bit different, but largely yes. This truck is being used as my primary source of income.

Just noticed the 2025MY reference - which means you can have a Trip detailing total and electric miles.
Since so much towing - curious if you noted those stats for oil change time.

I'm sure the EV motor assist was being thrown in for ups, and you probably hit max regen if you had downs.

Great data! I’ve used Blackstone recently after having 7months at my oil change. Heavy wear metals but normal for new engine.

I noticed you did 5 oil changes in the seven months of driving - but tested 6 times. How did you extract the oil for the extra test? Dipstick or drain plug? Just curious:)

I plan on sending a sample to blackstone every oil change now. Useful info!

Be interested to see if there I s any sludge inside the engines of the excessive miles between oil changes....

Considering posters had pic's of their EB's or F150's after a cold winter showing the crema on oil fill cap - I'd be curious for compare of trucks in longer cold climates with plastic intakes, and that sludge - no matter the miles.

I watched my 25XL hybrid's oil cap closely for Crema and found not a trace over a Wisconsin winter!
My minimum distance travelled per trip was 10 miles, maximum trip 30 miles. Temperatures down to -5 deg. F. I had a few trips of 2 miles or less - still no sign of condensation! FWIW

I certainly wouldn't want to purchase a vehicle with 10K+ oil change intervals no matter what Blackstones reports say. Curious if anyone cross-checked Blackstone with Lake Speeds company. Just curious....
https://www.speediagnostix.com/

Edit....
There is a bunch of info out tgere
https://www.grcorollaforum.com/threads/oil-analysis-at-9840-miles-blackstone-vs-speediagnostix.8206/
I sent samples of same oil to both of them recently. Speediagnostix was $79 and received results quickly…about a week after they received oil.

Blackstone was around $50 and took almost a month to get results - they are popular & busy.

Results were very similar, although I preferred the format of Blackstone. Both showed high wear metals but oil still robust. Both recommend to change after 3,000 more miles. Sample was 7 months old with only 1,000 miles on the sample (EB). Next sample will go to Blackstone only.

This is off topic & delete if necessary?

But that's the thing....you are fooling yourself with that comment. I could go 10,000 on each change...sell someone the truck "saying" I did it every 5,000, and you, they or even Blackstone would NOT know the difference. And the truck would be PERFECTLY FINE for the life of it I guarantee. I know...I know...some are set in their ways...the old ways of doing things. That's fine. I'm just saying......:like::like::like:

That is the risk of buying a used vehicle. You really can’t be sure if it was broken in properly and maintained meticulously.

“But I guarantee it does not matter!”
You a used car salesman by chance?😉

Maintained by the book (aka OLM now), is perfectly fine for everyone and I wouldn't ask for more on a used vehicle.

Without sounding snobby - I only buy new vehicles. A used vehicle maintained by the book gives you an average vehicle. A grade of “C”. If broken in properly by the book - maybe C+ or B-.

A buyer trying to sell me a used vehicle would be facing the likes of the Spanish Inquisition. But since I’m nice and polite - I save my negotiating wrath for those who do it for a living;)

No way....Never a new or used car salesman...BUT....I really wanted to after I saw Used Cars with Kurt Russell. One of my all time favorite movies. "Mrs. Ramirez...do you realize your eyes match the color of this dashboard?"

I didn't, I must've forgotten to write down the delta, but it was changed at 99,177.
