At 75 i have decided to break with tradition and change my oil every 5,000 miles on my ecoboost 2022 maverick ..i guess progress doesn’t wait for non believers so im giviing in!father time keeps pulling me back has a little to do with it!still going to put the 1/2 quart of oil in though

I wouldn’t either if i didnt have a four post lift in my shop,heat, and air and a grandson learning to work on his own stuff also

Always dreamed of a set up like that, but maybe now it's a valid reason to stop changing my own oil, fluids and brakes. No Grandchildren either.

They're also great for turning a 2 car garage into a 4 car garage! Had 2 of them in a 12' tall lake home 2 car garage.

My Truck only had about 2500 miles on it before my last oil change but that’s because it was a year after the last one! I used to be old school as well but now I just don’t like to go more than a year between changes and no more than 5k miles.

Been here over 4 years now and I think this is one of the most discussed issues on our Mavericks. Almost everyone has an opinion and basically everyone is right. I change mine every 3500 miles and always will and for me I am right. The guy who goes 10,000, he or she is right for them.

(Yes "Smokey" Yunick) to change my oil every 6,000 miles and my oil filter every 3,000 miles and top off the oil. He loved synthetic oil.
He told me about molecular structure of synthetic oil versus mineral base oil. How it filters, how it resist shearing....etc.

I'll bite: How do you change the filter at half the interval of the oil when changing the filter will dump a significant amount of the oil of which you'll then have to guess the quantity when filling it back up?
I agree about synthetic all the way. That's required in my hybrid, but that's all I've ever used this century in other vehicles.

1. Cold Engine Filter only change.
You do this on a cold engine. Preferably in the morning before the engine is ever started.
2. Oil loss.
The oil you lose is the amount that's in the filter and what is residing in the tube running to the filter.
The majority of your oil is still in the oil pan/sump or in the journals and valleys of the engine.
3. Refilling the oil.
As far as the amount of oil you have to refill. You fill the filter with clean oil, reinstall the filter.
4. Checking oil via dipstick.
Run the engine.
Turn off the engine, wait.
Then check the level on the dipstick add more oil if needed.
