I got to thinking, I run tail/park lights all the time. However, all my lights are LED. I wonder if that is enough to trigger a charge?
Why is the English language so hard to understand?

Multiple posts explain Amperage drain is not a cause or a fix.

It is binary. Yes or No of what switch you switch on.

Once on; 0.0001 amp to 1000 amps will not matter.

David I understand exactly what you've explained.
One of the confusing things for me is on my 2023 XLT my low beam headlights will operate as DRL's.
But yet will not trigger charging.
Manually rotating the headlight switch to on, triggers charging.
The same damn lights are on.🤷‍♂️

DRLs are normally PWM (pulse width modulated) so they are not drawing full power and are "dimmed". When you turn on the lights they draw full power.

Are you sure that they are dimmed on the Maverick?
I have a 2023 XLT with conventional DRL's
From what I can tell they are not dimmed.

Are you sure that they are dimmed on the Maverick?
I cannot be - I have a 2026 Lariat with the LED DRLs integrated into the headlamps, I am speaing from past experience with other vehicles, they all run the DRLs at a lower output than full.

Someone with a conventional DRL setup will have to check and report for us.

English language is hard to understand because of things like "Fido" & "Phaedaux"!! 🤫😇. (English has 26 characters Chinese has over 50,000 characters).

2022 XLT

DRL are headlamps on at full power.

The difference between DRL and the headlamp switch on is the parking lamps / running lamps.

DRL setting on, the parking lamps / dim tail lamps are NOT ON.

But again, insignificance.
It's a switch / bit-byte set in the computer that seems to matter. Not actual amp draw.

Not true. You can run Windows without activation, it will function with some nagging but - it works.
I wasn't aware of that. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

OK could not find my cigarette lighter meter thingie so I dug out the OBD2 bluetooth adapter and used an old phone with Torque. 2026 Lariat Hybrid AWD.

Connected the OBD2 and did some testing with the ECU indicated 12v charge. With surface charge drained it shows 12.3V (before start) and while running and driving it showed a consistent 14.9V, headlights not on (though set to Auto).

Maybe the 2026 is programmed differently?

How many months and miles on your 26 Lariat?
It will be interesting to see if your "ready" or "run" voltage eventually rises to a steady 15.3V as it has on my 2025XL!

I've had it 1 month, 1072 miles, had 262 miles on it when I got it as it was a dealer to dealer vehicle driven up from Oregon to Washington.

Tonight I put a 30 watt, 40 watt, and 60 watt load on the built-in 120 VAC inverter.

Had zero effect on the 12 v system.

Switching the 60 watt on and off I could clearly see a "wiggle" in the 220 v Hybrid battery. Clearly the HV battery was feeding the inverter. 12v battery didn't know the inverter load was there. And the computer did not alter the 12.8v coming from the DC/DC converter.
I forget if the inverter runs directly from the HV system, but keep in mind that the 12v electronics run parallel with the battery. So typically you won't see an effect on the 12v battery since the load is coming directly from the DC-DC inverter.
