Looking for feedback on the extended warranty for the 2025 Maverick Hybrid. Do you feel it's worth the money or just skip it?

If you plan on keeping your truck, its defiantly worth it. Especially with the hybrid.
I agree, especially with the EcoBoost :fingerscrossed:😘
Honestly I’ve never in my life had an extended warranty or the need for one. Not a bad idea though if the price is right because repair costs have drastically increased, esp with those crazy Hybrids!😏

Extended warranty is essentially an insurance policy. The insurance company always comes out ahead otherwise they wouldn't sell it.
Now if you don't have emergency cash to cover a repair then it makes sense. Credit card rates are crazy.

You're better off taking the cash you would put into an extended warranty and investing it--especially in the long term. You do need to consider your cash availability though, as @Gray Goose already mentioned.

Tell us about your situation.

What is your trim level and installed options?

What is your driving style and use-case for Maverick?

How long do you plan on owning and how many miles per year?

Do you DIY or have a garage to park in?

Do you own any other cars, what is your tolerance for downtime?

Are you rural and are there any good independent repair shops nearby?

I personally have 8yr/125k premium care for ~$2400. It has a $100 deductible. I'm at 48k with no issues. So right now I'm 50/50 if it's worth it. Answer is we really don't know yet. You said Vermont, so perhaps there are not as many independent shops, but I could be mistaken.

So with @tom_tucker’s example, $25/mo ain’t bad!!

It’s all a gamble. Drive 20 years with no problems except a starter and you lose money. Drive 6 years with a starter and a transmission and you win. People that say it’s worth it sometimes never use it but it is a peace of mind. No one can say if it’s worth it to you and your situation. They can only speak of their own situation. I’ve bought them before but never used them. Now I don’t drive enough miles to bother with one. Most people trade before any major problems arise.

The 8/125 is an extra 5 years / 89k over the standard 3yr/36k. So more like $40 a month to drive almost 16,000 miles annually. Still not too bad.

Do you trust that the vehicle you made a conscious decision to buy is going to last as long as you want it.
(Clint Eastwood) well do you…. Punk?
This is my 14th new car purchase and all have been great, so let’s hope the streak continues with my Maverick choice (crap -jinx).

I’d say less with a hybrid as all hybrid components covered under 8yr/100k mile warranty.

Where as your 8F35 and the rest of the ecoboost powertrain gets 5yr/60k mile warranty.

That said I have an 8yr/100k warranty through Granger with lighting, key, and car rental. For me it felt like good peace of mind for a vehicle I plan to keep for some length of time.

1 I’d only get the ford warranty, not an off brand.

2 the cost is the same regardless of trim, so the deal is better for the higher trims since there’s more stuff to break.

3. Coverage starts from date of vehicle sale, so the sooner you buy the warranty the less it will cost for the same coverage ( costs goes up 2x a year)

4. Consider the lighting rider to cover those $1000 + headlights

5 Granger Ford offers great pricing and you can use ford points to pay too

Same principle as a Condom or a pew pew.

I’d rather have it and not need it
Then need it and not have it.

Mine was, a new battery, new wiper blades, a wiper reservoir problem, a new tire, but really just the comfort of knowing I have it, and 4 more years to go.

Like others have said, it's a gamble...you may never need it, but my logic was since it's a 1st year model vehicle, it might be a smart idea...

I bought the ford factory extended warranty and my rear right side passengers window motor went out; the warranty covered that; still had to pay $200 as that was the deductible, but the job normally cost $500...or that's what the dealer told me anyway...

My biggest concern on my truck is the transmission.
