We have a 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat, which we got in Nov or '23, so our 3 years is up in 9 months. We have about 9200 miles on it so hitting the 36,000 mile in 3 years was never even a possibility. other than the truck "falling asleep" we have no complaints. We are getting close to 45 mpg so no issue with that. I don't see us trading it anytime soon. We are both retired and in our 70s so we don't really do much traveling, and really don't plan any big trips. Is the extended warranty something we should consider?
I will give you the same advice I gave other members on this forum. If you intend to keep your truck for at least another 4 years, get a 10 year 60K ESP from Granger. This will cover anything that may need an expensive repair for $100. Remember your Lariat has a lot of electronics that the XL's, and XLT's don't have, and the cost is the same for the ESP. If you decide to sell, or trade in after 7 years, you will recover the cost of the ESP by the next owner who will pay more to have 3 years warranty like you had when you bought your truck new. If you trade in the truck, you can get a refund for the remaining time on the warranty.

I've traded a couple F150's that I purchased the warranty for. When the dealer asks if there is anything wrong with it, I tell them "No, and it has the Ford Protect warranty so run it through your shop." In both cases I got a pro-rated refund because they would rather sell a new warranty to the next buyer than pass along mine for nothing.
Curious if you had to use those warranties you purchased?

The only extended warranty I've used was the free one Ford gave me on my 2024 FX4 because of a concern with the crankcase ventilation system. They did do an update on that year. The issue was "running rough" which required replacement of spark plugs, and 7 of them broke lol. Otherwise I haven't used them, but I'm ok paying for it even in that case because I would end up fixing stuff myself if I had to pay for it, and that's not how I want to spend my time.

I get that. But curious how many people buy these warranties and never use them. Seems like such a waste of money. I have been driving 50 years, never purchased an extended warranty, and never needed one.

In the last 50 years, vehicles had very few, if anything that controlled everything that todays vehicles have. There's no way to fix a problem without special programs only dealers have access to. All you need is one thing to happen out of warranty, and you will then decide if you should have bought an ESP. Back when you could buy a car for 10-20K you just replaced it, today, 45K is average so we need to keep our cars 10 years or more. I feel an ESP gives me "peace of mind" not having to make a quick decision replacing it.

All good points. I will roll the dice i guess,or just have faith that the product i bought will be reliable.

The way they use scare tactics to sell you this Warrenty is just that a scare tactic! Sure something will break , or go bad. There is nothing man made that won’t break sooner or later. But on average the ford I bought won’t fail . Check around ,the only ones that broke were the ones that got in a wreck. My last vehicle had 250 miles on it and never broke down. Just like life insurance, it’s a crap shoot! But if you believe in all that junk they want you to waste money on,then buy it.
