Like others have said, it's a gamble...you may never need it, but my logic was since it's a 1st year model vehicle, it might be a smart idea...

I bought the ford factory extended warranty and my rear right side passengers window motor went out; the warranty covered that; still had to pay $200 as that was the deductible, but the job normally cost $500...or that's what the dealer told me anyway...

My biggest concern on my truck is the transmission.
Mine also a 2022 but I am single and my dog can't drive so with my flat tire they came to my office, didn't even know where the spare tire was, they put it on and had the spare replaced for free the following saturday at my dealership, so worked for me, also came to my house twice? Forgot why. But mostly bought warranty because I am single I guess. Transmission, wow never thought of that one tho, but only 15,000 on my truck right now.

Yeah, if the transmission goes the warranty has more than paid for itself.

I used to be in the "Never buy an extended warranty" camp, but now the tech in the vehicles is so advanced AND proprietary, the days of getting parts at an AutoZone and repairing the car under the shade tree are just about gone. The dealer-specific parts and diagnostic tools pretty much guarantee a trip to the dealers $ervice department now for even simple repairs. It's the high-tech and/or proprietary nature of the parts and repair that made me re-think the ext. warranties. As long as it's an official manufacturer's warranty I'm good with putting the 2026 money up front now to mitigate possible very expensive repairs down the road. Went with Granger for both the truck and the ext warr.

We keep most vehicles at least 10 years, so it's a solid low risk/potentially high reward play for us.

Looking for feedback on the extended warranty for the 2025 Maverick Hybrid. Do you feel it's worth the money or just skip it?
It's a crap-shoot. It's worth it if you need peace of mind. Only you know.

Like a lot of the people here are saying, it really depends. I used to drive between 40,000 and 45,000 miles a year. So my manufacture‘s warranty didn’t last very long in years. I used to get Fords hundred thousand miles three year extended warranty. They usually had to look that one up because it wasn’t in the normal pamphlet that they used. Most people bought 100,000 miles and seven or eight years. In 2006 I bought a Ford freestyle kind of a station wagon looking thing but Ford called it a truck just like everything else that they called a truck. I believe it was Ford‘s first attempt at a CVT transmission. It was paired to a 3L V6 with a Haldex all wheel drive. At around 60,000 miles I started getting the wrench light that, but the transmission mechanic had no clue how to work on the CVT since it was the only one they had ever sold. He eventually went to Ford CVT training and replaced the entire guts of the transmission, the Medtronic I believe they called it (twice). Then they installed the little computer underneath my driver seat with a little push button I could push when the wrench light came on so they could get even more data for them to analyze.. The whole time this was happening the car behaved normally so I wasn’t overly upset with the problem. I just wanted it fixed. The service manager at this dealership was cool. He never took the deductible for the shop visits when you had the Ford service plan, not because I made multiple visits but he said that was just their shop policy. I had loaners for free, multiple loaners I had a Mustang a an older escape and I ended up driving the service managers Taurus at least I think it was a Taurus for over 8000 miles. When Ford finally figured out what the problem was, it turned out it was a manufacturing defect on the input shaft that caused it to tear up an O-ring on the input shaft which caused fluctuating pressure in the hydraulic system, which caused the light to come on so they spent thousands of dollars on my transmission, changing the insides and I don’t know how many hours driving and testing it and whatever else but for that particular car it was worth it. Ended up putting over 200,000 miles on that car. I had a 2015 escape non-Eco boom that the transmission decided it was only going to use half of the gears and make a lot of noise the rest of the time and that also got fixed under the extended warranty but now I work from home and I didn’t get one on my new Maverick.

I bought if for a 2022 eco. Three reasons, it was new model, relative inexpensive and I felt like whoever got it after me, Wife or son, could use it. Traded it in for 2025 Hybrid Lariat, canceled it and got a decent refund. Will do it again before truck reaches a year old because it goes up after that. Same reasons except for being a new model. Also I am low mileage driver. Used Flood Ford insurance.

I bought a 2016 previously owned Nissan Frontier before my 24’ Maverick Hybrid. The Frontier engine failed 1 month after I bought it, never heard full diagnosis but it was burning and smoking oil. The warranty saved my bacon then.
I will be buying a warranty for my Maverick this fall before the 3 year 36k milestone happens. I will never be without an extended warranty for this veh and I don’t have deep pockets of money for would could be a 5-10k repair.

I have a foot in each camp. For me, it depends on the cost. My current Nissan Frontier has a factory extended warranty. With Nissan, coverage starts when the warranty is purchased rather than the vehicle's original in-service date. So I bought the warranty when the truck had 59,000 miles, because the cutoff is 5 years or 60k miles before an inspection at a Nissan dealership is required. The truck is now covered until it has 119k miles or 5 years since the date the warranty was purchased.

The likelihood of something breaking increases as time goes on, so there wasn't much incentive to buy the warranty earlier.

If I bought the vehicle brand new I'd be less inclined to buy an extended warranty unless I knew without a doubt that I was going to keep the vehicle a long time and the warranty was very cheap. Otherwise I'd rather just self-insure.

How I do that is I basically have a separate bank account that is a "vehicle capital fund". Every month I auto-transfer a set amount. This VCF covers auto maintenance and out-of-warranty repairs. After the vehicle is paid off, I increase the auto-transfer to include the payment amount. If a major repair hits, I can decide to just sell the vehicle as-is or pay for the repair from the VCF at a place of my choosing with no claims process. But the important part is the money is not tied up into a warranty, so I have options.

When I eventually sell the vehicle, the VCF becomes seed money as part of the down payment. Depending on how old the vehicle I'm buying is (I usually buy used), I may use almost all of the VCF as a down payment, or none of it, or somewhere in between, so that I have some funds left in case a major repair hits shortly into ownership.

The dealer-specific parts and diagnostic tools pretty much guarantee a trip to the dealers $ervice department now for even simple repairs.
I recently tried the GearWrench OBD when it went on sale for like $100. It plus a smartphone can do like 95% of what my Autel tablet can do, which was more than ten times the price. I find it more convenient than the Autel since it's wireless and fits in a pocket.

I answered many posts on this subject, so I'll give you my advice. Unless you plan to sell your Maverick when it's less then 5 years old, I would get a 10 year policy from Granger Ford. All policys start on the day your truck is first registered, which means a 5 year policy is realy only a 2 year policy. (first 3 years are covered by Ford). You won't save money by waiting until the end of 3 years, but the cost with go up to buy it every 6 months. The policies are transferable to the next owner, which will get you a higher price from a buyer for a peace of mind vehicle with years of coverage by Ford. If you trade it in, you can get a refund by cancelling the policy.

With the cost of todays parts, and labor, almost any repair with hit the $1k mark with no problem! I'm sure knowing I only have to pay $100 to fix a problem with a hybrid vehicle, I'll keep it for 10 years worry free about repairs.

These scammers are using the scare tactics on the public to sell this junk. Stop and think how many times has your car over the years cost this much to repair? But if you ar e that scared that that car you paid for is junk ,then waste your money. Not to mention that a lot of these people don’t back up the claims, finding any excuse not to pay for it!

EXACTLY! 1st new car loan was 1981. As of 2001, I have not had a car loan. I’ve had good luck with cars and that year my VCF covered my next car purchase. About ten years ago I moved my VCF to a high yield savings account.

With all the electronics in ALL today's cars, I wouldn't purchase one without an extended warranty. I got one for my 2025 Maverick Hybrid. My basic thought is I don't want to pay for expensive repairs for car I am still making payments on.
