He says my Maverick is a perfect geezer ride for me because if I don’t put the park break on or put the transmission in park before shutting the engine off, it will do it for me. He also says it tries to keep me in my lane when driving. I agree with him. I like all the tech now days.
<snip>
I am a geezer too and to prove it, I name my truck...it's Sidney. And my kids are like, WTF is Sidney??? And it has all of the bells and whistles you mention in the last paragraph.

And my kids proudly brag about what their big ass tanks can do but when I tell them I get well north of 40 mpg, they are like....Boochit...until I show them a picture of the readout on my dashboard.

And then I tell them well if you don't believe it, STFU cuz I am now on my way to our lawyer to make sure our wills are up to date. And then our financial advisor to make sure we get a few more $ for more geezer stuff.

You see...being a geezer does have its benefits........

If our small group here on the forum, is an accurate demographic of Maverick sales. He isn't wrong.
The poll is still active if new members want to vote.

Yeah, but not like many Gen-Z's can afford a new vehicle and the Maverick hasn't been around long enough to have tons of used vehicles out there, and those that are aren't cheap either. So not surprising the older demographics, with more disposable cash and better credit ratings are buying them.

Well, "geezer" is a complement in the UK, but it grinds my gears where I live... unless it's just good-natured bantering with someone you know doesn't really think you're a geezer.

How do I know that I'm ALMOST in geezer territory? There's an ADULT co worker who refers to EVERY OTHER coworker by ONLY their first name. But he refers to me as MISTER Darryl.
They say that you can tell if you're "young" if you fall over and everyone laughs, or "old" if they all rush over like "OMG, are you okay? Did you break anything? How's your hip? Shall I call 911?"

Yep, here's your geezer sign.

I tend to do the same for anybody who I think is older than I am.
Without a doubt anybody older than me is a geezer.

Geezer is a state of mind or sadly state of body, which if not kept up will let you down.
You can lie and say you are older than you are, so people will say you look so young.....lmao. Or you can be a little less conservative, like when young. This may give you that open youthful energy that makes you seem younger and not an old Codger. Or lots of energy drinks!

You may find at some point that you will be happier when you no longer care what someone else says or thinks about you.
It's a non-inconsequential part of embracing "geezerhood".

If someone uses geezer or any other term you deem pejorative, indicating your relative old age, try disarming it by telling them, you're just a bit more "extinguished" than them.

What will us geezers be called after the AI singularity solves aging overnight, and suddenly we find ourselves in 20 year-old bodies but with 70+ years of life experience?

Retreads? Rebuilds" Rewinds? Dead men walking?

I'm a geezer with a Maverick. Why did I end up with a Maverick? Well, my previous ride (Silveado) was totalled in an accident. Not my fault. So, got an acceptable check from the insurance company. Didn't really want a vehicle payment. So, I could buy the Maverick for cash. For me, it was an easy decision. Very happy with the Mav. Sure, there were things that I liked about the Silverado, but there were also things I didn't.

I've been thinking the same thing, that the Maverick is a good old man truck (I turn 75 next week, so I qualify). The climb in and out of that low bed when I launch my boat, is easier than a bigger truck was. Easy truck to drive and park. I'm super happy with mine.

Probably be my last vehicle as we keep cars for a long time. The last two over 15 years each. That will make me 90! So not likely to be buying new vehicles at that time of life, assuming I have any money left!
BP
Not true, you’ll likely do what I plan to do when I’m 80 or lose the ability to drive.
Buy me a full on auto drive and if Ford does not have full auto drive I’ll buy a Tesla Robot and let that insane machine drive me around In my Ford !

I’ll name it, Alfred,
After Batman’s Butler.
And I’ll buy a Dark Horse,
Can I get a Wup ?
