So all you need to do is send in a form with everything needed to steal your identity, to find out they know everything about you already...
It appears that if they have information about you, (they do, unless you live under a rock without a phone) you can request that your information not be sold to third parties, or possibly deleted if you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah or Virginia. Otherwise, it appears you can read about yourself, just like anyone who subscribes to their service, but that's about it.
Eeek.

Eeek is right. 🤫 I'll bet LexisNexis knows what toilet paper we buy.

If anybody really believes that sending LexisNexis a form to delete your information, actually deletes anything, you're sadly mistaken. The information may be inhibited / restricted, but it's never ever truly deleted.

Funny... my app-only subscription was about to renew at 2x the price - and they called my bluff this year. I went through the motions to cancel, and they said... "bye." 🤣

Looks like I am taking a break from SXM, maybe until football season.
Last year it went up a small amount but they changed me into a plan that does not go back to regular price after a year so I don't have to chat with them. The price will go up however. Next month it is going from $8.49 to $9.99.

I only use it for music and they have a lot of channels available.

I have an older car I don't drive much but I took it out yesterday and linked my new phone. Sirius seemed to play fine through the Bluetooth mode although I just tried it in the driveway. I haven't used that mode in a long time and figured out I had to hit the play button to get it to work.

For those looking for alternatives to Sirius XM may I suggest Radio Garden? It's a free app with no commercials that let's you stream radio stations from around the world. Much better than tune-in radio. There are still a few REAL, independent FM stations that are non-commercial, and not tied to a university. No news... just music.

We're fortunate to live where WEVL FM (89.9) in Memphis (the birthplace of Rock & Roll!) comes in direct from an honest 50,000 watt transmitter. All-volunteer DJs, no commercials. and a music program that changes genre about every 2 hours on a weekly schedule (personal favorites are Monday afternoons, Wednesday afternoons, Saturday afternoons and especially the 30 minutes of Hawaiian slack-key guitar music on Thursday evenings). You can also stream it right from a browser if you don't want to use an app. When I'm out of town I pull it into the Mav via Radio Garden.

Enjoy!

The FORScan as-built route is the clean way to do it. A few things worth knowing before you run those changes:

The 727-01-01 block controls SXM tuner presence — setting that first byte from 3 to B flags the HU as not having a satellite tuner, so the SXM app icon disappears from the source list entirely.

For the 7D0 blocks rusty mentioned: these are in the Head Unit module (APIM), so make sure you have a solid ELM327 adapter — cheap WiFi dongles sometimes fail mid-write on APIM and can cause the HU to boot loop. A USB or quality Bluetooth OBD2 adapter is safer for module writes.

Always read your as-built first and save it before writing anything. The XL vs Lariat difference he noted is real — the DSP config byte in 7D0-01-01 is different, so if you paste XL values into a Lariat you may get audio quirks. Match the change to your trim.

I don't drive the truck that much but when you have Sirius you can also listen to it on your phone. I listen to it while walking and working around the house using cheap wireless earbuds. You have to contact them once a year and threaten to cancel so they cut the price way down.
The $10/month (now $12.80) isn't that bad of a deal. It used to be $25 or so and you had to call to get it down to $6 or so for a few months. I think they finally realized they could keep more customers at the $10/month and didn't force them to call every few months to get the lower prices. They still have the higher price if you want the political and sports talk shows.

Yep, most college towns have a radio station run by students. The one out of East Lansing and Michigan State University is pretty good WDBM - Impact 89 - Indie/Alternative music. The frequency is 88.9. It's online too.

Interesting. I wasn't even aware my Maverick had Sirius available. I bought a Jeep Renegade in 2017 and it came with a free 1 year sirius plan. Sirius forgot to turn mine off and i ended up with 4 free years...LOL. I hardly ever drive the Jeep so it was no big deal. Of course Sirius bugged me all the time after that which i ignored until they gave me an offer i could not refuse. A 3 year plan for $2.99 + tax per month, all channels.

Ford installed a satellite capable radio because the MAJORITY of buyers want it. Yes they have your vin and radio ID on record because you had a free subscription. You could have contacted Sirius ONLINE and cancelled the day you bought it. A little work on your part would be less than all your bitching about it. As a matter of fact you could have stopped this quicker than creating the thread to bitch. Sorry life sucks for you. It's whipped cream and cherries for me. See the universal delete tool! I guarantee you will never see another ad from Sirius!
I would have needed to create an online account, which would have required me to give SiriusXM even more of my personal information, which they then would have sold everywhere when I cancelled, if not before. I suspect that Ford's actions have at least as much to do with whatever SiriusXM is paying them than what their customers want. I have no problem with Ford including a satellite radio or even with them charging me for it (which I have no doubt they did) had it gone no further than that. I did have a problem with them shoving the content and the incessant nagging to upgrade to a paid subscription down my throat. Why should I need to jump through hoops to stop that? They could easily have included instructions to keep that from happening, but that would no doubt impair the commission stream from SiriusXM. But I'm sure those ideas are lost on the SiriusXM fanbois here, so I'll stop. One interesting note is that since my trial expired, I have not seen hide nor hair of SiriusXM. It has not popped up even one time. I had to unplug my USB drive that has my audio files to power another device this afternoon and the radio went straight to AM. Just a coincidence, I'm certain...

It can also be the dealer providing information. I traded my Camry with Sirius, then a couple days later got an e-mail about not having a linked vehicle on my account and they would add one for me. I called them, confused, and found out the new owner (my friend) had a new account set up with a 3 month free trial and the Camry Sirius was in their name. I added my Maverick to my account and continue to use the app in my shop which I have connected to my old home stereo.

I can't stand the FM Radio stations they play 15 minutes of music then 20 minutes of commercials I'm glad I have Sirius XM and love the channels they have.
My Wife is addicted to SXM but there is only one channel that she listens to and that is 70’s on 7!

No coincidence at all. That is exactly what happens when your subscription expires. The satellite radio is disabled and you have to reach out to reactivate it. But you spent days bitching about something that took care of itself with NO effort from you. P.S. you don't have to create an account to cancel the trial subscription just go to the website and tell them the radio ID .
EDIT: This was so simple to find the answer instead of 5 pages about it.

"You generally do not need to create an online account to cancel a dealer-provided SiriusXM trial, as these usually expire automatically. However, if you provided credit card information or signed up for a trial directly, you must create or sign into an online account to cancel, or use chat/phone support.

Key Details on Canceling:
  • Dealer Trials: If your trial came with a car purchase, it usually ends automatically, and no cancellation is necessary."

I listen to 80's on 8, Bruce Springsteen's Channel,Classic Rewind, Ozzie's Boneyard and Hair Nation. And another thing about the FM stations is a bunch of the channels I listen to at home have talk shows. I want Music not talk shows!! :)

When I worked for oil refiner who also owned service stations about every third year we would get someone who had a disputed statement that would mail a box of pennies for his $10(+/-) with a first class "postage will be paid by addressee😱 envelope" taped to box.
I recall back in college looking for interesting things to stuff in the annoying junk mail return envelopes.

I recall a umbrella handle, but don't think we ever found an available brick.

As for Sirius, I gave it a try in the trial period, and after r couple of hours, went back to Pandora.

My tastes tend to the redneck side of country, and their offerings were, well, weak. And too much "host" prattling.
