I have noticed that my parking brake will set if I l park on any kind of slope.

I have a 2025 Lariat Hybrid.

So if it's not setting the park pin at least the parking brake will set.

I can't see how this complexity is an improvement over a simple manual brake.
i agree. Not too much is simple on these vehicles anymore. What is so strange to me is, Ford understands an issue with this parking brake thing and sends out software. The software immediately does NOT work. Wow. No cross checks, no quality control, and everyone keeps their jobs. I sure had some bosses who would send you home with your final paycheck if these things happened. And some would let you keep your job, but you would be required to work non-stop, day and night until the issue was resolved. We didn't have very many oops moments!

We are in "violent agreement" on this issue. :sneaky:
I don't see any benefit to the powered brake, and there is a loss of functionality, as the manual parking brake let you do fun things in the snow with the rear wheels.

Perhaps the reason is as Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelly) observed in the first Star Trek Movie:
"I know engineers, they LOVE to change things. ."

Your parking brake has been used whether you set it yourself or not.
The vehicle engages it and releases it automatically.

As noted - Yes there is indication.
It is the red Brake that is illuminated in upper right of center in your instrument display when it's engaged.

I've received the same mailed notice but I don't have the issue, but then I am in the habit of setting the parking brake. That will prevent the truck from moving.

Interesting that my printed copy also mysteriously disappeared..

How Ford managed to sneak an operative into my house to retrieve it without alerting my Shepherd Husky who will bark if a mouse crosses the yard 20 yards away made me think it was a consummate professional job... Then I remembered I filed it.
My parking brake does NOT set itself automatically. I have tested this on multiple slopes. Hybrids might, since I don;t own one I can't say, but I know for a fact if I park on a downward slope and do NOT set the brake the truck will roll forward after shutting it off and releasing the brake pedal.

I received the recall notice in the mail and was told the fix is not ready and that I would be notified when it’s available - fortunately I have not experienced any issues so I’m not going to lose any sleep over it…
Just looked at a 2025 hybrid today and the service department had just fixed the recall.

You've got a different model year (24 vs 25) and a different drive mode(EB vs Hybrid), so that's not a surprise.
MY25 had some changes and there have been apparently differences between EB and hybrids all along.

The 25 XL Hybrid AWD I drive sets the parking brake automatically If the bake is not engaged manually when the vehicle is put into park and turned off. Just did it, just to be sure.
It does that on a level surface so I assume it would also do that on an incline.
Edit: Apparently I mistook the brake not on message for the brake being set. My bad!
YMMV..

So true!

Our Mavericks DO have one cable control remaining however - the hood release cable:)

The original Maverick had cables for the throttle, heat/ac lever, park brake, speedometer, radio knob?, windows?, and who knows what else!:)

They couldn't sell it unless it was done. Picking it up tomorrow.
Yep, that's a legal requirement when there is a recall.
I've never had the error noted, but I did get a letter.
The MY25 Hybrid is "just a bit" quirky, but I love it.
Congrats on your acquisition!
Enjoy the ride (and the great mileage)..

Called dealer yesterday. A tech just came out this morning and did the fix in my garage. Took about 10 minutes. Just just plugged his laptop into the OBD2, got online, and downloaded the patched firmware.

Just got some vague notice from Ford about a "Special Field Action 25L02". Related to a "Transmission Control Assembly " reimbursement.
Not sure what I should do about it.

I tried this on a 2025 XL Hybrid FWD yesterday after it received the recall and it did not automatically set the brake. I wonder if the recall changed that. I also tried on a 2026 ecoboost and hybrid and it did not set the parking brake. This test was performed on level pavement, not on an incline.

I know on my 2023 whether on an incline or not my parking brake will not automatically set🤷‍♂️

My video shows about an 8 degree incline me shifting from drive to Park. Taking my foot off the break you can hear the truck rolling back onto the parking pawl.
I opened the door and it never automatically applied the parking brake.
