I have never used my parking brake in the year I’ve owned my Maverick is there a indicator on the dash when the parking brake is engaged?
Yes, it surprisingly says "Brake" on the display, and you should. Your park pawl will thank you.

Your parking brake has been used whether you set it yourself or not.
The vehicle engages it and releases it automatically. Oops Maybe not...

CONFIRMED - PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT SET AUTOMATICALLY on my MY25 Hybrid.

As noted - Yes there is indication.
It is the red Brake that is illuminated in upper right of center in your instrument display when it's engaged.

I've received the same mailed notice but I don't have the issue, but then I am in the habit of setting the parking brake. That will prevent the truck from moving.

Interesting that my printed copy also mysteriously disappeared..

How Ford managed to sneak an operative into my house to retrieve it without alerting my Shepherd Husky who will bark if a mouse crosses the yard 20 yards away made me think it was a consummate professional job... Then I remembered I filed it.

I know the discussion has been focused on the Parking Brake being set and the recall relating to the Integrated Park Pawl (IPM) module for 25-26 Hybrids, however now I find from reading the list of Notes that releasing the parking brake should be done in a specific manner as shown below. I guess I will stop releasing the Parking Brake (P) manually and begin the habit of using the Automatic Release method (accelerate forward/or backwards), or I could just move the selector from Park to Neutral and manually release the Parking Brake in that position.

Ford Maverick Notice of Recall 1771343103804-8h

Automatically Releasing the Electric Parking Brake

  1. Close the driver door.
  2. Shift into gear.
  3. Press the accelerator pedal and pull away in a normal manner.

That's news to me. I've always manually released it on every Ford with an electric brake I've ever had (four of 'em).

Thanks Gary for the information- my parking brake likely also engages and I just haven’t noticed it but I’ve never manually used it, my FordPass notice also disappeared and I filed my mailed copy too - hopefully my Maverick is not affected - take care…

I got my notice last week. My parking brake engages automatically when I park on a slope. At my house, it has to be turned off manually or the truck doesn't go.

Pretty sure that is in there because people not thinking about it would defeat the whole purpose of using the EPB before taking foot off brake to save the parking pawl.

That Note is to keep people from getting in, starting, foot off brake, release EPB - and bang against the pawl.
And if that engagement wasn't complete as the recall seems to be for, rolling.

So instead - just start, foot on brake shift into R or D as normal - and either manually release EPB or gently press gas to overpower and release it.

Also - the more auto EPB usage is the 25/26 MY.
Prior is more related to inclines.

So we start getting into differences again - just including this for new owners of used older trucks not noting the specific thread here is for 25/26.

Yes, and you don’t even have to read the manual. Pull up on the brake lever and look at your dash for the indicator. It is red.

I like the fact that the Maverick’s parking brake is a lever you need to pull up on - like the old school “rip it” mechanical hand brakes.

Feels better than just pushing a button to set the brake. I do wish Ford would put some pawls in there to make it feel more authentic though:)

You have a valid point, however the OP noted the issue for his "25 AWD Hybrid".
My reply was to the owner of a 25 like mine. Those should be relevant clues...

Mavericks are also powered via two different means, the Hybrid and the EB.
Does that also need to be explicitly mentioned ? Hint: It kinda is, as the poster's vehicle info is usually noted. If that works for the EB vs hybrid, why not for model year differences?

I think the onus of applicability for a post needs to remain with the reader.
Perhaps you feel differently.

Myself, I'm not inclined to attempt to answer questions directed at a MY 25 with caveats for details on other model years I haven't owned, and don't know about.

Maybe there is an administrative answer to help prevent confusion, maybe not.

To answer your specific question about the brake "randomly" applying - is it in these situations?

Do you know if this will eventually be an OTA update or always require a dealer visit?
