Auto engage parking brake must be a 2025 feature.
It doesn't Auto engage on my 2023.
As poster @HeyBales noted in post #23, model year differences exist, and the parking brake appears to be one of the functional differences.

From my perspective, the automatic brake is more of a PITA than an asset.

CONFIRMED - PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT SET AUTOMATICALLY on my MY25 Hybrid.

Do you know if this will eventually be an OTA update or always require a dealer visit?
IIRC, the notification said it would not be just a software update, but then it also appears that they have not yet completed the fix to be deployed.

I have a 25 Lobo and have yet to notice the brake automatically engage, but I almost always pull my parking brake. If I forget on flat ground - I’ll feel the slight crunch of the Maverick’s weight resting onto the transmission pawl.

I always set my brake on an incline or decline with wheels turned appropriately - so I don’t know if it would automatically correct my error.

It's easy not to notice, but it will automatically engage, at least it does on my MY25 XL.
It automatically disengages, (in drive anyway) but I'm in the habit of turning it off manually, apparently contrary to the recommendations.

It's likely Ford doesn't want to put pressure on the parking pall if the vehicle can move when the parking brake is released. I usually go to neutral, ensure the vehicle won't move, put the car in park and set the brake, but it's likely that the truck does it as quickly as I do.
Old habits die hard.

At least a good habit.
Whereas I got into habit with old drum brake system that would not release fully due to rust/grime - to not engage the PB.
At least I seem to remember on hills. Usually. While KS is pretty flat, plenty of steep inclines around my area, but rarely there.
(24MY manual says the EPB may auto-engage on steep inclines - tested on what I sure thought was very steep - nada)

Does this recall have a title or number? It's going to be somewhat difficult to talk specifics if we don't even know what you're talking about.

Most likely it's already been discussed and there are already threads on it, so if you come up with the name/topic/number, feel free to search for it on the forum.
It's supposed to be a simple software update, but notices in PTS says dealers are having issues with it. Ford is aware and working on a solution. It requires an update to the SOBDMC which is the on board diagnostic module. Updating this module triggers a sequence in FDRS to update some other modules along with it. Details of the process is attached.

Backward or forward.
Not even on this incline

I think that they are talking about auto hold not auto e-brake.

dealer visit, that way they can report that the recall was completed plus it requires the FDRS tool.
It can and will be sent OTA. It would still need to be cleared from the VIN by a dealer once they verify the modules related to the recall are updated, but they will be sending it out OTA.

It doesn't look like it's ready for OTA. It takes about 20-30 minutes at the dealer.

I can't see how this complexity is an improvement over a simple manual brake.

Yea, module updates are usually released in FDRS before they make it to the OTA server, but they will send it OTA sooner than later. It is more cost effective for Ford to do it OTA and also more convenient for the vehicle owners.
