The half shafts won't be replaced until they fail just like the long block replacement. Hope the light comes on before they fail. You are most likely correct. This is just short of a recall for all models up to 2025
I wonder if there was a conversation with someone in the office...Actually - they probably discovered or due to inventory supply issues used a beefier CV axle then they intended to at the start - and realized the extra cost if they kept going with it.
Can't have that!
Oh - there's that pallet of cheaper CV axles that were actually spec'd - those will work just fine!
I dropped the truck off at the dealer on Wednesday and heard back today that axles were placed under the drive train warranty. No mention of the lift.. nada. My build date was Dec '21, so it met the CSP but he'd never heard of it. I gave him a copy. I guess that means I've still got a set in reserve?can't answer the lifted question, because I'm lowered. but I will say my dealership has never commented on my modifications. actually, neither of them. I bought from a dealership 10 miles away and because it's so convenient and they have done me well, I've also used another dealership for service that's almost literally across the street (3/4 mile).
I am curious about your first repair, sounds like under factory powertrain warranty. did you uninstall the lift, get the CV axles replaced under factory powertrain warranty... and then reinstall the lift?
if that is what you did I am afraid you're probably going to have to remove the lift again if you want it covered under the CSP as you kinda set a precedent for it.
or you could just pay out of pocket for tremor cv axles and see how much better they hold up.
The half shaft CSP is a ONE TIME REPLACEMENT!I dropped the truck off at the dealer on Wednesday and heard back today that axles were placed under the drive train warranty. No mention of the lift.. nada. My build date was Dec '21, so it met the CSP but he'd never heard of it. I gave him a copy. I guess that means I've still got a set in reserve?
They have another item to check out, so hope to have it back next week.
Well, reading comprehension is tough too I see.I think @MakinDoForNow is pointing out that if you had them replaced under the CSP then that is your 1 time replacement. If it was done under the standard warranty you might have another replacement under the CSP. By bringing it to the dealer's attention if they submitted it as a CSP replacement then you are out of pocket in the future. The CSP is not unlimited replacements for 10 years. I don;t think @MakinDoForNow was intending to be rude or shout as you might think. I think the caps was for EMPHASIS.
The csp states it is a one time only, but maybe the 3/36 or 5/60 could be used without the knock sensor pib code, and then use the free warranty extension of the csp???? However I suspect the replaced set would be the newer version and would not be covered during the extended time period of the csp but have their own replacement warranty conditions. What's interesting is the six month extension of time the csp gives those who have over 150k miles on Sept 1, 2025.Nice that you know how to use all caps. Did I hurt your feelings?
Why is the CSP even required if it was covered by my drive train warrany? Seems it would continue to be replaced when it goes again, as long as the warranty is still valid.
I believe my truck fit the CSP requirements but apparently, the dealership has not received the CSP on my truck yet. Therefore, per the CSP, even if you haven't received it, they will still replace them if they are bad. This is my second set to crap out - I hope these last.Polite conversation is TOUGH TOO I SEE. What he told you and what was submitted to Ford for reimbursement may not be the same thing.
@colinl -I'm replying to myself, I know.
But I just got confirmation that my work is being done under factory powertrain warranty and not this CSP. And, it's expected to be done today, having gone in yesterday, so they got the parts in one day. I have no idea if it was overnight shipped (doubt it), local depot, or they already had some axles inbound anticipating needing them.
The diag fee will only be charged if the CV axles is NOT the problem. There’s a 95% chance that it is the cause of the vibration. But they have to cover themselves just in case it isn’t. Until they actually verify the vibration they can’t guarantee that what you’re describing is what ford is describing. You might know what you’re talking about. But THEY don’t know thst you know.. Again, the charge only applies if it turns out that what you’re experiencing is not what is being described in the recall.. remember, they have not driven it yet. But you can reasonably be assured that you won’t end up having to pay anything once all is said and donefor those who had the half shafts replaced did you have any problems at the dealership? called one dealer and they said it would cost me $192 to diagnose it. even though i have the letter and my truck does exhibit the conditions stated.
I asked my dealer to have front halfshaft and driver side seat buckle replacements while doing oil change yesterday. But when I pick up my truck, I only saw the invoice of oil changed without mentioning any of the CSP service items. And those two notices are still open in my Ford App. I asked them and was told that they checked and thought they were fine but kept the items open so I could get service again if I had issue in the future.
I got a feeling they didn't do the work and were just bulls**ting me. What's your experience? How do you guys think?
[/QUOTE I may be mistaken, but I believe the seat belt buckle is replaced only if necessary. If the recall has an N in it, it's replaced only if the customer has a concern and it fails inspection, . The CV axle is replaced only IF there are symptoms. At any rate. They would be on a SEPARATE INVOICE because they are warranty items whereas the oil change is a customer pay item. I cannot attest to the seat belt buckle. But if the vehicle was not exhibiting any symptoms that would describe in the field service action, they were still inspected because whoever does the oil change also does a visual inspection underneath the vehicle. So no special notation was needed on the invoice in your case. If parts have been replaced, there would be a separate warranty invoice. Some customers want a copy, others don't really care since they didn't pay for it. But again there would be no need for an invoice for the CV axles if there was no complaint of the vibration that is caused by a warrant CV axle
