Anyone know the following
1. What is the recommended oil. Is it full synthetic?
2. What is the oil change interval?

I have not had a Ford for a few years. Do they have an oil life system or is it on a set km schedule?

Cheers

Pretty sure it's been posted here already. If you have a Maverick, look in your owners manual. The Ecoboost oil recommendation is different than the hybrid.

Ford uses Motorcraft semisynthetic 5/20- 30 in just about every vehicle. Its also one of the most affordable oil you can buy.

I just read where that to comply with EPA insane standards (intended to eventually kill the car) that the auto companies are going to lower (thinner) viscosity oils. My take is that if 5/50 full synthetic is good for my 2008 Shelby Supersnake (725 hp) it ought to be good in my Tremor.
I was always told that the decision point for viscosity selection is "when it gets cold will it crank?"
Any engineers out there want to weigh in?

10,000 miles with full synthetic Mobil 1 EP ("protects for 20,000 miles"). If you're over 60 and still think you need to do it the same way as your great great great granddaddy did before the Civil War, every 3,000 miles.

20,000 mile oil changes are as lethal to your vehicle as jimson weed was to great granddaddy’s horse.

He was brave but not cruel. Fed his horse better than the government recommendation.

Although if you drive 40,000 highway miles in a year - 2 oil changes should suffice.

Mobil One EP 20,000 mi is only good for 12 months under perfect conditions - Mobil One recommends half that if you drive under severe conditions.

My late Grandpa would agree with that. He changed his oil twice a year. Severe dude my gramps!

It's funny because 99.9% of the people who say it's not possible have never tried it and don't know anyone who has. "Oil is cheaper than a new engine" is a logic fallacy. My last car got over 120,000 mi with Mobil 1 EP changed every 10,000 mi. I sold it and believe it's up around 150,000 miles now. Never had it analyzed but I did inspect and it was no dirtier than older vehicles running dino oil after 3,000 mi. In fact it lubricated so well that the engine was not broken in after 5,000 mi. I had to switch to dino oil for 500 miles just to get the rings to seat.

A shit-ton of Ford engineers weighed in: 5W-30 is perfect for your Ecoboost. If you’re feeling sassy, go full synthetic. 😉

The 2025 Toyota Tacoma Turbo uses 0W-20. My 2024 Corolla Hatchback used 0W-8. Looked like diluted apple juice when I added oil!

I feel so much better having an engine that uses 5W-30.

The truth of the matter is that engines today are made to powder tolerances. The thinner oils get to the components more quickly during cold starts. I think most turbos use 5w 30. Most non turbo engines use 5W-20. Both are are synthetic blend Some such as the hybrid Maverick use 0w-20 full synthetic If I use full synthetic in any vehicle, I'll still stick to the viscosity recommended by the manufacturer.

I agree. In spite of my misgivings when cars first started using the thin oils, my fears were unfounded. Hardly any engines fail due to lubrication issues anymore. Ford has used 5W 20 and 5W-30 in virtually all their engines since the 1990s. That includes the crown Victoria 4.6 which commonly last 300,000 miles or more. Even the trouble prone 5.4 3 valve usually starved for oil only when they sludged up due to neglect, or the timing chain tensioner failed due to failed gasket. When turbos fail, it's often because of neglect or failed seals

Because of the two very small screen filters protecting my Turbo I’ll do 5,000-6,000 mile intervals with Motorcraft Full Synthetic.
That’s only two services a year for me.
I’ll change those two filters around 50,000 miles. I consider this mighty cheap insurance.
But that’s just me.

Out of curiosity, what's been the condition of those filters when you changed them. ?
