Turns out my Service Dept ordered the parts from Ford (they are available).
And I'm now scheduled for this service. A month out. (Admittedly to allow 'extra' time for parts, and to make sure its done on a day where techs aren't swamped or overly busy, and can do this right...I hope..)

Was told its a "5 hour" job by their documentation.
Was told it will be done in a day.
They will pick up my vehicle in the AM, and drop it off in the PM.
Sounds like they do not need to pull the front end Off, and can remove Fan from the backside, and then remove the Radiator. Hopefully its that straight forward..

I wasn't really expecting to commit to this right now, but they did impress me with an actual call back and follow up about it. And already had the parts ordered.. So I guess that is a positive.

What I'm not impressed by is Ford selling a vehicle with out the parts they claim are installed.. Taking my money was fine by them...not telling me then was fine by them...

Now I get to deal with the inconveniences and consequences...that was nice of them.. They must be good at this game, huh?

Hope it goes well for you. Great they don't have to remove front bumper and grill. Any visual issues will be under the hood which shouldn't be of any consequence. I assume same process as replacing radiator if it gets hit by an object coming through the grill.

My dealer needs to order the parts. When they get them, they will drive over in a loaner to leave with me & take my lobo back. Dealer about 2 miles away from me…

So much for me demanding a Mobile Repair or Service Lounge Staredown. All talk I guess.

I don't believe that the lower capacity cooling components were installed by mistake. I feel that Ford substituted at the expense of quality and customer satisfaction to gain profits from sales. They knew what they were doing.
And now they're spending more by offering replacement fans and radiators? Makes sense...

Although these parts have a huge retail price they likely cost Ford next to nothing. They are passed through to the dealer parts dept., so even the dealer cost figure means nothing.

Warranty labor is usually the lowest payout to the technician. The largest expense in Warranty repairs is labor.

These trucks are dirt cheap to build in Mexico where mass manufactured materials converge and labor is not organized thereby low wages. Per unit cost to build is substantially lower than the USA, increasing profits per unit.

That's why Ford slapped together 758 premium priced trucks with below standard parts, knowing that they might have to someday make good on their claimed specifications.

I wonder what happens to the like new, removed warranteed parts that get shipped back to Ford? Hmmm? My guess is they get cleaned, tested, and repacked for the secondary consumer market. That offsets the cost of the warranty replacement parts. After all, these are genuine Ford replacement parts that have been reconditioned, right?

Believe me when I say that Ford has had more than 100 years experience learning how to squeeze every dime out of anything they can. That's how we got charcoal brickets in the first place.

None of that matters when you're talking about Ford intentionally trying to save money on the assembly line. The cost of getting the correct parts installed on the factory floor are much cheaper than later sending recall letters out and asking customers to come in and have incorrect parts replaced, then as you suggest testing, cleaning and reselling those parts.

Are you assuming that Ford thought they could get away with putting cheaper parts on the Lobo and never doing anything about it, and now they're doing a recall because somehow their devious plans have been thwarted? I haven't seen any evidence of a conspiracy...

You sound like an expert in manufacturing so please answer this since no one else can. These , cheap for Ford parts, are used on the 4k package so why aren't all of them recalled?
Both the standard & 4K radiators are fine. The recall is to swap a 4K for a standard that was installed by mistake.

Comprehension is a beautiful thing. The parts are cheap for Ford to manufacture or purchase in bulk. I never implied that the 4k tow package on my Maverick is inferior (cheap quality). I did imply that Ford has admitted they installed the standard capacity cooling system on the 758 Lobo Maverick when they should have had the uprated 4k components. I hope that clears things up for you. Buying OEM parts from Ford is anything but cheap.

FYI : I have worked for Ford at the Louisville Assembly Plant and I currently work for a Ford tier 1 supplier (manufacturer of Ford parts). I don't claim to be an expert in OEM marketing, but it only requires a little common sense to understand this parts supplier thing to the level discussed here.

Mistake? Uh, nope. Every part is coded and is placed in the assembly line to coincide with each vehicle being assembled. This was a decision made at a higher level. Pedro can't pick and choose what he's told to install.

My LOBO was built in Feb. After reading this post I had to go out and look under the hood. It looks more like 1/2 to a full day to swap the rad & fan, maybe more. There is a lot of stuff that has to be removed and un-hooked to get the rad out. I counted at least 6 hoses. And without crawling under the truck I couldn't even see the trans cooler.
Is the turbo cooled through the rad?
Wishful thinking - Wouldn't it be nice if they found some got built with the right stuff?
And I thought all I had was a possible faulty airbag light!

Dealer told me they also need to replace AC Compressor belt in addition to the Radiator & Fan. Maybe the belt is a different length.

I’m nervous about getting this done next week - probably the first time a tech has performed this specific task. Probably will reschedule & reschedule again.

Thanks Gary, I am very nervous about this recall.
I saw a video on replacement of the intercooler. They had to remove the front bumper to get to it. Hopefully they don't need to do that to get to the rad.
