I've had my '22 Hot Pepper Red Maverick Lariat hybrid loaded with all the bells and whistles, plus various accessories I've added, going up for sale soon. Right now, it has less than 31K. I've never had a problem with it other than the recalls, all of which have been fixed.
At the time I purchased the Maverick, I was building, selling, and delivering raised bed garden boxes. After going through two major lower back surgeries and one very serious neck surgery in '24 where vertebrae were fused together, then having a reverse right shoulder replacement at the end of '24, and now facing further back surgery, I physically can't do what I used to do
So my wife and I have been making changes to better out transportation needs. We sold our '22 hybrid Escape that was her daily driver to and from work. She's driving the Maverick now, and it's not her favorite vehicle. I might drive only once or twice a week in town, and sometimes that's even a challenge. We decided to look for a compact or mid-sized SUV and let the Maverick go.

Wishing you the best. One of the reasons I downsized to the Maverick was friends having health issues and not being able to get into their full size trucks anymore. Made me realize I am not 30 any longer.
Being lower to the ground with easy access to the bed were two major reasons why I purchased the Maverick. I love the Mav and will be sad to see it go, I know it’s the right direction my wife and I made to sell it and get her something she needs.
I may be putting it up for sale on here pretty soon.

I am sorry to hear of your physical issues. As much as most of us love our Mav's, you need to do what is best/right for your own situation. Making things easier and better for your spouse is admirable.

I hope you take your time and do a good evaluation as to what your replacement vehicle will be....but I can imagine already that you are already doing that.

Good fortune in the future and I will be hoping, when you put your Mav up for sale, that you quickly find another happy owner for it!

Take care,

Andy

We are going to look at a few Toyota RAV4’s today. We’ve always had very good luck with other Toyota vehicles we’ve had in the past. They are rated very high in Consumer Reports. She likes hatchbacks.

A family member who had a stroke ended up getting a Honda pilot for his wife to drive him around in. He said it was the easiest for him to get in and out of and still have room for his lightweight wheelchair in the back and groceries.
Our second choice is a Honda CR-V. We leased one once before and really liked it. Never had a problem with it.
We ruled out all American made vehicles along with Hyundai, KiA, Nissan, and Subaru.

Sorry to hear about your health issues.
I have a Maverick ordered (first week of Sept build, allegedly), and had narrowed my own search down to that and the new hybrid Subaru Forester. Subaru has finally dealt with the highway road noise (I gave it a good workout on my test drive) and less-than-spectacular city fuel economy in that model. I was pretty impressed. Thankfully they didn't get rid of the squared-off interior, so the cargo space is easy to load.
I thought the RAV4 was really floaty on the highway (in city driving, it handled well) , but the Highlander was unbelievable! A bit pricey, but luxurious!
Best of luck to you!

Had a Rav in the past and felt I felt it was made cheap (closing the door, sounded tinny). Did everything I wanted, but was not a vehicle I liked. My 2020 Escape Titanium was one of my Fav cars (Prior Edges were great too), but needed to tow a little more than I wanted to with the Escape, hence went to the Mav. Like it but miss some of the Titanium's options.

Sort to hear about the health issues.

Don’t bother posting your Mav for sale here. Get an online appraisal from CarMax and Carvana and use that as a negotiating point with the dealer your purchase your next vehicle from.

Good luck!!

I rented a Rav4 a couple of years ago as far as I'm concerned it was the biggest piece of crap I've ever driven in my life. Just me.

Two couples I know have recently purchased a CRV hybrid and they're very happy with their purchase. Another couple has owned their hybrid for a couple of years and love it.
Personally, I really like the new Trailsport addition (in green).

Had a 2021 RAV4 Prime, too much money for what it is, it fells like a cheap Corolla, got a 2024 Pilot, nice car, have to say it was a nice car but I only used those for long trips, I don't know if it my old frame or what but after 3 hour my lower back would be killing me on the Pilot, went back to what I am familiar with, got me a 2025 Lexus RX, loving it, lux trim has the leg extension for the legs, love it. Ex has a 2023 CR-V as a daily seems to like it.

Sorry to hear about your back issues. I have had similar problems so I know what you are going through. The hardest thing is when you have to give up on things you used to do.
All the best my friend.

Our options are open. Anyone have an opinion on a CR-V?
Traded my ‘21 Ranger for a ‘24 CR-V. After the poor experience that was the Ranger, I went back to Honda (it’s my third). Honestly, best one I’ve owned so far and when compared to my wife’s Escape, the Honda comes out on top for both of us in all categories. When it comes time for her to get a new car, we’ll probably be considering Honda or Toyota first.

Good write up.
