So, it happened. I got hit from behind by a Ram 2500. Not highway speeds, not enough to pop any airbags, but enough that my tailgate could no longer open and had to be cut off to replace it. Hard enough that it bent my trailer hitch.

But square-on enough that it didn't take any frame damage. Shop did a great job with the fixes!

Unfortunately, the seller I got my matte lettering from is no longer selling. What's the new go-to? The tufskins matte black on Ford's website?

I'd just leave it. Not a fan of the "Maverick" name so prefer not highlighting it. I remember when the Maverick car came out and what a piece of $h1t it was so would rather they hadn't brought up that name again. Leaving it low key lets me 'forget' the name and just drive a great small truck. YMMV

Either you REALLY lucked out, or the shop didn't check as close as mine did...or was smart enough to replace/adjust the receiver (the only 2 bolts not in spec.). My plastic bumper was destroyed, but the tail gate still opens and closes fine. The only thing bent on my hitch was the plate the 4pin connector is in. I retained mine, so my Lariat got a "rebate" of about 1/2 cost, but with a salvage title.

I agree. It looks like the OP really lucked out, that Hitch got smacked pretty good.

I agree. It looks like the OP really lucked out, that Hitch got smacked pretty good.

you can barely see the bend ripples under the right arrow between the elongated hole and the factory pinches for the crumple zone.

And you still ended up with a salvage title 🤔

That's why I retained it! I asked the collision shop manager about long-term issues. He said maybe, but it would be over the life of the tires. The only frame measurements that were off are behind the rear suspension....the bolts that go through the "frame" and thread into the receiver.

Reminds me of a time that I was stuck in stop & go traffic headed west on US-50 five or so years ago. I saw an older man driving an immaculate Courier pick up and thought, wow, you just don't see those anymore. That is sweet, and bang! someone ran right into the back of him, not seriously, but it was a shame, because I'm sure that was a total, but only because of the 'blue book' value which prolly go back that far.

I felt like I jinxed the car by noticing it ☹
