if its still the McGuard tailgate lock that Ford is selling with trucks, it won't stop a determined thief, as its basically just a hose clamp with a plastic shell on it
I'm not sure what it looks like, the configurator didn't show an image or really much description when I placed the order. There is a key lock I thought on the tailgate, like you would see on a driver's door, and I believe it is activated (lock/unlock) by the key fob on XLT/Lariat.

You all have motivated me to take the cubbie doors whenever I find them, so I have extras in case sometime steals mine!
Careful, someone said they were going to keep a rattlesnake in theirs.

I'm curious if the bed storage cubby built into the rear passenger side of the bed locks or not? All of the videos show it twist to open and then the door isn't hinged, but is removed easily... I hope that it locks or I will be worried that without a locking bed cover these doors will disappear all too easily via the Walmart parking lot five finger discount.
Why would someone want the bed storage door???????

It does not lock. I'm hoping that the aftermarket brings a lockable replacement door, though, to be honest, I'm sure it could just be pried out if a thief really wants in. Locks tend to only keep honest people honest.
Locks make the thieves think there is something very valuable in the compartment and then they'lll destroy whatever they have to to get into it. Just don't put valuable things in there. Mine will probably have a pair of gloves and a couple ratchet straps in it.

The cubby is secure. I've seen two vids already where the host was unable to open it.

I looked at it in person and you can easily install a lock in it if you have just the slightest know-how. Also Ford rep said they may be working on a locking door latch as an accessory because several people have asked about it.

The tailgate lock situation is a bit confusing to me. Looking at the Ford.com PDF's they indicate standard manual tailgate locks on all trims, optional power lock on XLT and Lariat. I think this would be the key lock next to the handle.

Then tailgate lock option CCBAB ($40) is what they call a "HINGE LOCK". Never heard of one. Does anybody know what that is?

My 2013 F150 has a keyed tailgate lock. Don't recall ever using it. I have never had a tailgate stolen in 40 years. Except twice when they stole the whole damn rig.

It's a clamp that goes around the slotted lower hinge of the tailgate that needs to be removed before the tailgate can be taken off.

I'll probably just keep things like ratchet straps and bungie cords in there so I really won't worry about theft since there will be nothing valuable inside

Apparently hybrids are targeted because there’s less wear on them. It’s dumb stuff
That's why I pan for platinum on the side of the road.
