Avoid having 3rd Brake Light Truck Bed Lights come on when opening driver's door?

Does anyone know of a trick or some way to have the 3rd brake light truck bed lights not come on when the driver's door is opened. Mine come on every time the driver's door is opened day or night.

If you hit the switch that normally turns them on, right after you open the door, it will turn them off immediately. It's the only way I know of to turn them off with the door open.

Go out the passenger side? Hammer? Why is it an issue? The point of it is to illuminate your walk. Ford just didn't put a dusk sensor on that would have 12 recalls.

Maybe hes gotta pull over to let his uh, dog pee and the light gives him stage fright.

I don’t have an answer to your question but up until a year ago I had a Hummer H3 that I used down on the Tex/Mex boarder. It had a switch that the TX DPS motor pool wired up that would keep all of the lights, interior and exterior, off so we weren’t spotted by people who had just crossed from the South. When you turned the switch off, all the lights went back to normal function.
I wish my Maverick had that, just because it was cool.

Dark Mode through Forscan ? Other Ford Vehicles Like the Edge, Explorer can be turned off in Police Mode using Forscan. I don't think the Maverick has a Police Mode (yet) option through Forscan that works the same as on the other Vehicles. Maybe someone can chime in on the Dark Mode aspect.

Variations of "dark/police mode" are possible on the Maverick, and people have done it and posted their findings. A forum search will pull it up.

I did not know that, and I went out and tried it, and indeed it works! Thank you Sir! 🫡
