I almost bought a Maverick about a month or so ago to replace my 2004 Ranger (handing it down to my kid, what a champ the Ranger's been) when, on the way to the dealer, I received a call that a Stop Sale had been implemented and my wife and I had to turn around and go home empty-handed (I had already driven one previously but hated the stock interior). After sitting on it for a week, I decided to just go ahead and order one from a dealer closer to me with everything I wanted and nothing I didn't (Eruption Green XLT, Ecoboost, Black Appearance Package, Luxury Package, Spray-In Liner). Got the employee pricing, so we're sitting at $34,500 (this includes delivery/destination) plus registration, doc fee, etc. Since then, all I've had time to do is more research. Here, Reddit, YouTube, etc. The Maverick looks like everything I want, but the constant recalls and issues- leaks, battery drain, CLIPS even, etc. - have me a bit spooked as the build date (week of 6/30) grows ever closer. I have a whole checklist of things to look over and test when the truck is delivered, but that will only tell me so much and can't cover everything. You all have so much knowledge and experience. Are you happy with the purchase? Would you get one again? Would you recommend it to your friends and family? Are the stock speakers THAT bad? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

You could always just buy a Santa Cruz.....
I can't tell if serious or not, but the Santa Cruz isn't for me and in general it seems Hyundai are considered bottom rung for reliability. Heck, one of the videos I watched even compared the two and the Hyundai broke down (not that one example is representative of larger trends).

2025 Lariat Hybrid - have had no issues after 3300 miles. No battery drain, check engine lights, squeaks or rattles. Solid truck and good everyday driver.

Remember the forum and the Internet give the 1% of the problems more visibility while ignoring that 99% of buyers have had zero issues.

Stop worrying and start smiling, there is no other vehicle you can buy new with all the features you want for $34,500! Ford has been very good about taking care of any, and all problems, that members of his forum have found that needed attention. The Maverick is todays version of what your Ranger was back in the day. Best Bang for the Buck out there. YES I would recommend a Maverick to a friend without hesitation, in a few months when your truck arrives, all your fears will disappear as you start doing all the mods that make yours one of a kind!

My first question is.
Other than the Santa Cruz. What other competitors are there that you're looking at, with the options and the price point that the Maverick is at? I can't think of one.

I like my 2023 Maverick hybrid XLT Lux. I have the occasional sleep mode and recalls. Other than that, It's been a good performer and reliable for me. I like the standard XLT cloth interior mainly because it's not pleather/fake leather, ford calls it ActiveX. Very hot in the desert Southwest where can be 109° We've had a couple days of that already.
Not to mention the mileage 38.8 mpg for the last 18,000 miles

NO! DON'T BUY IT! We want to keep the secret of Maverick ownership to ourselves 😜 . Seriously, I researched for 9 months and got it narrowed down to a Maverick or Ridgeline. I wanted a better ride, easier entry and exit height, a smaller bed because I am getting older and don;t want to unload a full size bed of mulch at a time . I have had mine since April 3,2025 and do not miss my Silverado in anyway. The Lariat stereo is fine for me, if I want to crank up the classic rock I have a 250w stereo in the house for that. The sound deadening windshield made a difference when I test drove the Lariat compared to the XLT. Not sure if that is changed on the 2025. I had a 1992 Ranger for 12 years then handed it down and this is the closest thing to it I have found.
Thanks, this is what I'm hoping for, a more modern twist on the old Ranger, because the new Ranger isn't.

There aren't many, really. I'd have to go back to the drawing board and save a bit more to look at a Ridgeline, Ranger, or Tacoma, which are all fine but a bit bigger than what I want (though my in-laws just got a new Taco and it certainly feels real fancy). It's too bad I can't really look at SUVs, but it's just too nice to have a bed you don't have to sweat about putting something like a lawnmower, or paving stones, or the like into.

You're probably getting the 'big purchase wobbles'

I was anxious while I was in the process of trading in my perfectly fine 2020 Honda Fit (only 25k miles) last month, AND spending 22K on top of that, but once I was driving home in the maverick, all I thought was dang this truck is awesome and everything I hope it would be.

If the son or daughter to whom you're giving your old Ranger lives anywhere nearby, you really don't need a pickup truck. :)

Even though my Mav isn't "mine" and it's just my company vehicle, I've been very impressed with it. Every so often I'll have a guy ask me about it when fueling up or at the grocery store.
Bottom line, for me anyway, if your expectations are along the lines of what this little truck can do then it's a great buy.
