At my Ford Dealer you get 3 oil changes and tire rotations for $199, up to 8 quarts. Diesels a little more.

Hope I'm doing as well at 79! only 5 to go! :)

I thought the Mav had 16 screws on the bottom panel covering the filter. One of the reasons I didn't want to go to my usual quick change place. Not sure they would get it right.

For tire rotates, my previous Silverado tires were too heavy for me unless I sat down and used my legs to help lift them onto the rotors. Always used jack stands so wasn't worried about having my legs under the truck.
Having dropped the splash Shield three times I can confirm there's 15 screws.
Other than getting up and down off the floor at 70, it's the only other thing that's a pain in the ass when doing an oil change on a Maverick.

You can get that down to around $25 total using supertech 0w20 and buying FL910s filters as a case of 12.

I question why I am crawling under vehicles to do oil changes a little more with every passing year, but most cities do at least have a local quick lube place that is fairly trustworthy and fair on prices. All the other checks the dealer does is kinda nice on paper, but considering how hard the techs there are pressed to get vehicles through the door, I really doubt most of them are actually done besides quick visual inspections.
You can have remote tech service in your drive while you watch. 😁
Once when he was updating software he got out of my Lariat and the horn tooted twice. I must have looked at him funny or something because he said "well horn works" then added "No charge for that!".🤗

Suggestions for those who are not able/interested in doing their own maintenance:

If you have the knowledge/tools, but not the physical ability, find a local teen who is interested in cars, and teach him/her, and pay them.

If you just don't want to deal with it at all, support your local independent owned shops, that have high customer satisfaction. Or, if your local dealer is fair & highly rated, fine, there are some out there.

But quit getting ripped off and supporting garbage dealers! 🤬

10,000 miles seems like a LONG time between oil changes. Full synthetic was always rated/recommended to take you from the 5000 miles out to the 7000 miles between changes.
10k seems ridiculous and risky to me.
Poster was hybrid. Easily 7k or less on the engine.

But - find the threads of EB owners posting their oil analysis after 10k and be prepared to have your mind blown!

Many years ago when I was an airframe mechanic, 95% of the aircraft were in corporate fleets, but the 5% of personal aircraft, with a smaller subset of those that had to micromanage and watch their baby going through an inspection or other maintenance drove me insane. I think it's good to have an understanding of your vehicle, and being able to communicate vehicle problems with mechanics / service writers, but once it's dropped off you have to trust them to do their job or what's the point really.

This sounds like the big dealership near my house. Won't go back. I drive an extra 15 minutes (2 towns away) to a smaller old line dealership. Oldest dealership in MA and still family owned. Went into big dealership for a new valve stem once... Said they could take it right away... 2 hours later they called me to the desk. Had to order the part. WTF... no valve stems for a 2020 Escape? Had to come back the next day. $200 dollars later and another 2+ hours and I had my new valve stem. Went to my local tire place (probably the larges tire dealer in New England) and had the other 3 replaced a couple weeks later then another failed. Around 100 for 3.

Big difference in trust between an A&P and an auto mechanic.
When I turned my plane over to a mechanic for an annual, I never give it a second thought. That A&P also knew that his name was in the log if something should go wrong.

My ‘planes’ were all hot air balloons. But I always participated in the annual inspections. Partly because the fabric part is easier with two people. And usually got a discount for helping with that part.

Comparing dealership mechanics to an A&P no where close. Technically I’ve been both, jet mechanic in the Corps, and 5 years a garage mechanic after.

After 30 years flying balloons, some A&P shouldn’t be, and guessing some mechanics either!

My ‘24 lariat hybrid is now 1 year old, with 5,800 total miles.

so sorry I missed the dealer oil specials two weeks ago, advertised $68, not sure what all was included.

Today, a 5K service (which don’t exist for this vehicle), $200.

Included tire rotation.

Service writer didn’t know anything about deep sleep, ‘just need to drive more’.

Wanted a dealer service for 1st oil change. Will be shopping next year!

My dealer did my 10’000 mile check, oil and filter change with rotation for $80. So they charged you quite steeply. I’ve got a great dealer.

I use Town Fair Tire (New England area chain)for all my tire needs (bought rims there too). They won't be undersold on tires. They gave me a quote, went home and looked online and found what I believed to be the same tire. Went back with the online quote and they matched. Saved over 80.00 per tire for 4 snow tires.
Would I be correct in assuming that these weren't just valve stems, but they were actually TPMS sensors?
yes, you are correct... I stand corrected.
