Both my wife and I really like my Maverick, and if I went back in time would buy/order it again. It's the perfect size to drive well, and handle most tasks the typical homeowner needs. It's both a great commuter, and a awesome compact truck when needed as a truck. - Heck, I'll be grabbing 25 or 30 bags of mulch sometime in the next week or two, replacement deck boards, and other stuff before the end of the month.

FYI: This was both my first truck, and first Hybrid vehicle.

2023 XLT Hybrid, delivered Jan 2023. Just turned 25,000 miles, no issues at all so far. Had the odd brake behavior and the occasional rough transition between electric and ICE modes initially, but those were fixed with recalls a long time ago.
Would buy again.

Can't tow anything with the Mav? I don't know who told you that but they are full of you know what. I have towed +/- 2000 lbs. numerous times with no issues.
Truck pulls well, stays on the road, handles the trailer, etc.
Only difference when towing is the gas mileage drops down to normal non-hybrid car mpg range.

Only you can’t tow that much with the 22-24 hybrid. I wish you could, as only Canned Hams are light enough, lol.
sure, but it still has a 1500 bed payload capacity, it's more then just a Prius with a bed.

Not for what it would cost now vs what I paid for my 2023.
Not much comparison between my 2023, and it's replacement 2025. The 25 is a way better truck.

false. you can do a lot with a Maverick.

the 1500lb bed payload capacity is equal to current midsize trucks and greater than standard half ton trucks less than 20 years ago.

4000 pound towing is fairly useful.
Yeah, my 2000 Ford Lightning had an 800# payload and a 5,000# tow rating.
My 2025 Maverick has a 1,400# payload, and 4,000# tow rating.

But the Lightning was for hauling ass, and the Maverick Hybrid is for sipping gas.

I actually didn't want to buy my 2022 XLT AWD ECO LUX in the first place. I considered the Maverick then, and I consider it now to be a bloated fat pig with two doors too many. But there was no truly small two-door competition, and I needed to replace my old Ranger. The Maverick was the least bad option on the market.

32,000 miles later, it's grown on me. It does it's job without complaint. Will I buy another? I hope not. I hope there is smaller two door BEV competition on the market by then. The news is promising, but you can't buy promises. Here's hoping at least one of the promised Maverick competitors actually ships one of these years.

So no, I would not buy another one. This will do until there is something better.
The four doors has been a lifesaver, my 90s Ranger super cab was a waste with those flip seats. They were ridiculous.

It is the perfect soil hauler…those bags fit perfectly!

To me that’s a Perry Mason objection. The only thing the two vehicles have in common is the inadequate warranty. I wouldn’t buy a Prius, even though they’re a better quality vehicle. Even if I liked the Maverick, it’s so woefully overpriced, and if you add 4K, which requires adding another pricey package, it’s outrageous. In 2024 the EV I bought in 2021 Was the same price. I wouldn’t buy it again though; no tax credit, they fuglified it, took away the fog lights, and in 2025 it’ll be made in China. Also according to the recent reviews it’s no longer fun to drive.

What is a better buy with the same capability?

2022 hybrid XLT. Ordered July 7 2021, received October 2022. 38000 miles. Trouble free so far. I paid 26000 and feel it was a great deal and have really enjoyed the 40+ mpg. I would consider buying again, but the same truck would cost me 34000+ now, so I would probably not buy.

Could you be less abstract?
What is abstract about it?
People say the Maverick is no longer a good buy. I want to know what they think is a better buy than the Maverick that can do the same things the Maverick can do.
If the Maverick is lousy, what is the better alternative?
