Ford Maverick Safety and Self-Help Gear, what do you carry in your Maverick? 20250514_151249

Ford Maverick Safety and Self-Help Gear, what do you carry in your Maverick? 20250514_152154

I would think everyone, or almost everyone, who has driven/traveled any small or great distance usually has needed help or saw someone who needed it while out on the road.

So as the header says, what do YOU carry just-in-case it may be needed?

Here is my short list, some items I missed when I took my photos today.

First Aid kit, fire extinguisher, seat belt cutter/window breaker, a decent tow rope, spare Hitch, "battery powered flares"...(the three round orange devices, which are awesome!), don't-hit-me reflective vest, light gloves, knee pads, paper towel, a quality tire guage, battery powered tire inflator, safety flashlights, power bar and 4 different deep sockets for different lug nuts (just bought a new one as I lost one 2 weeks ago helping someone), 2 extra wiper blades...(they only fail when you absolutely need them), Leatherman multitool, lint roller...we have a cat...T-P...absolute necessity in the middle of no-where, windshield fluid, winter and summer...it is that time of year...snow here expected Saturday and it was 36 Celsius here yesterday and day before! Li ion battery booster, tie down straps...because it is a truck and a couple of light bungee cords for holding something light in place in the back of the truck to get it home...like a very long shepherds crook to hang a bird feeder...just saying it happens. ;-)

Did I miss anything?

Oh, spare fuses of appropriate size and amperage! I usually carry spare bulbs but I want to change mine to LED this summer, such as signals etc so haven't done that yet.

In the winter add a collapsible shovel for snow....I've only had to use it to help others, I swear!

I also included my new-fangled steering wheel lock with alarm, for when not parked in my garage. It is a bit of overkill for here, but I like it and it does give the truck a pop of colour. Our little trucks do get a lot of attention when we are out and about.

I frequently drive longer distances in my Maverick. I have many of the same items as you that I keep in a duffle bag under the rear seat. I also keep a set of basic tools, rain jacket, tie downs, battery jump start device and an empty insulated bag. Good for all kinds of stuff even if I’m going to the grocery store or want to keep something cool for a little bit. Everything fits in the under-seat storage bins for me and it is a huge positive for the Maverick. I love being to travel with plenty of stuff while it being out of sight out of mind.

I know what you mean! The underneath storage area is fantastic and holds the most necessary things for easy access.

The only item I haven't used to help others is the fire extinguisher...but it was close...Ă  Dodge caravan mini-van had burst into flames before I went by. I was out and digging the extinguisher out when the fire dept arrived. They sure were on their game, and did a great job. (Hats off to all our police, fire fighters and ambulance first responders out there...they have a super tough job and get my respect).

The fire fighters had better equipment, so I stayed out of the way.
Have a great day,

Andy

I usually carry some emergency items but haven’t gotten to that point yet - as of this time I carry a WolfBox 4000A Jump Box a few ratchet straps
Hey, all good stuff, Dave O. You have the most important items...ability to jump start an engine if needed, and straps to hold stuff in the box of your truck if needed.

I just added my Pics and this thread to help anyone that may want to add a few things "just on case".

Have a good day today,

Andy

For my 2022 and 2023, I had used a Husky Brand Waterproof storage box with all sorts of stuff in it, ratchet strapped against the back of the bed (under the window). It was super heavy and annoying to remove when I wanted to be able to use all of my bed space. For my 2025, I switched to a waterproof "bag" to make it easier to haul in and out. It also caused me to pack a bit lighter.

I keep a collapsible shovel, 25 foot kinetic recovery rope, soft shackles, bottle jack, breaker bar, extra sockets for the breaker bar, and this monstrosity of a recovery hook system: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MSM3482

The monstrosity has hook styles that theoretically fit most modern vehicles. J Hooks, T hooks, blah blah blah. And yes, one of them works on the Mav, even though it is claimed there are no good recovery points on the front. See this post for more info: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...oints-what-to-do-when-stuck.36528/post-747604

Inside my Mav under (and behind) the back seat I have a tire inflator, jump pack for jump starting a vehicle, Fire extinguisher, and tire plug kit.

Ha! I also have some recovery boards, but I only toss those in the bed if I know I am going somewhere risky. Or if it is sno-magedon or ice-pocalypse or whatever the weather people call it.

I would steer clear of using that bridle as it is two separate straps and anything less than a dead center pull will just transfer all load to one strap.

A lady got stuck in the mud two weeks ago at a soccer tournament and I was so excited to grab my axle strap, shoft shackles, and recovery rope to pull her out but when I got over there she was like 8 inches from gravel and it was just because her tires were bald and I was able to push her to traction.
