If the police were called out to the incident and they had to handle the report for an accident they just have to make sure that the roadway is clear of the vehicles involved.
If one of the drivers requested a tow of their vehicle and doesn’t have a tow company to call then the police dispatcher will call the next tow service on the call list to come out.
The police don’t tell the driver not to drive the vehicle it’s the owners decision whether to have it towed or drive it home or wherever.
If you are crazy enough to drive the vehicle with failed or faulty brakes then it your choice.

Police can stop an unsafe vehicle leaving the scene of an accident. If a vehicle is deemed unsafe due to damage or other factors, and it is leaving the scene of a crash, law enforcement has the authority to intervene. This is particularly true if there are injuries or significant property damage involved.

I guess a good reason why the fast change oil places with owner driven vehicle, don't seem to have pits. Suck the oil out now. Not sure how they handle the oil filter fast, or so many cars with under-shields.
Unless that's in the fine print I don't bother to read.

Seen a couple of those videos with older ones.
Actually, from the pit days and employees driving vehicles in - seen enough with younger drivers too.

No. That's not true.

Every car on the road. EVERY ONE needs to (and is able to) apply the hydraulic brakes by physically pumping the brake pedal. I'm sure in some weird way that too could fail, but it wouldn't be computer or lack of electricity related.

Try this:

In a SAFE open area, like far end of a big parking lot away from others, get up to 20 mph. Put it in Neutral. Shut off engine, turn key off, push the off button in the others. You will be able to stop.

It will take effort, but the manual physical brakes will stop you. Or they should.

If not:
A) crap in pants
B) restart vehicle
C) apply the brakes again

I have never ever pushed the electric parking brake button with the vehicle in motion. I am skeptical it will do anything above 5 mph. But I don't know. I currently have a trailer attached so I won't be experimenting with that this weekend.

It's got an accumulator on it, you'd have to pump the brakes continuously to see if it bleeds off or not.

I'd be curious to see the system diagram.

You pull up on it actually. I've not tried pushing on it, but I don't think that works.

You really should experiment with it and be familiar with it in case you ever need it. It works at any speed. If you've ever experimented with using a hand brake in a car, you will likely be shocked at how effective the electric brake in the Maverick is. It gives very good power and control without locking up on pavement.

I need to learn how to modulate it so I can do a Bat turn in the snow.

It's a statistical anomaly that 7-Eleven stores have more vehicle crashes through the front door than any other business. Starting about 5 years ago (maybe longer, time flies) company mandated concrete and/or steel bollards be put across the front of all stores. Maybe you noticed. Maybe you didn't. Next time you are at or near a 7-Eleven, check it out. You'll be hard pressed to find a store without the bollards now.

Have to wonder if this was the cause of the OldSarge incident posted about on Dec 14, 2024? We never really heard the cause and some thought it was driver error. It would be good to know, now I'm worried.

OldSarge has never confirmed this to be the case, I imagine he would have reported back.

Will be interesting to see Ranchero's service write up.

I didn’t drive it took 2 1/2 hrs for the tow truck to arrive…I went Friday morning to the dealer…they told me last night that the module imploded…my concern not only could this happen again to me it could happen to a lot of others as well

It would be great if you could post a picture of the service sheet, showing a part number for the module that failed and was replaced.
That way, if it's visually accessible, we can see if there's any leaking on ours.
